Revolut has formed a partnership with OpenAI to incorporate ChatGPT Go into its subscription offerings.
Revolut is providing its customers with complimentary access to ChatGPT, following a new collaboration with OpenAI. The fintech company, which claims to serve over 75 million users globally, is including OpenAI’s ChatGPT Go in its subscription plans, offering a duration of service ranging from three months to a year at no additional cost.
The benefit corresponds to the subscription tier. Revolut’s highest Ultra tier receives twelve months of ChatGPT Go, along with a twelve-month "buddy pass" for a friend. The Metal tier offers a year, while Premium and Revolut Pro get six months, and even the free Standard tier provides three months as a promotional offer.
This isn't Revolut’s initial foray into AI. The company has developed its own in-app assistant called AIR and reportedly utilizes OpenAI’s models for fraud detection and customer support, meaning the ChatGPT benefit builds on a more extensive relationship.
The implementation will occur in stages. Paid subscribers and Revolut Pro users can access the feature immediately in the app, while Plus and Standard users will receive it in the coming weeks, following the typical pattern of prioritizing higher-tier customers first.
What users are receiving is a light version of ChatGPT. ChatGPT Go, utilizing OpenAI’s GPT-5.6, provides elevated usage limits, file uploads and document analysis, image generation, and memory capabilities, distinguishing it from a casual chatbot to a more utilitarian tool.
For Revolut, this approach is about bundling. The company has invested years in offering perks within its subscriptions, from airport lounges to insurance, and values this portfolio at approximately €4,100 annually, with the addition of a prominent AI product as a logical step forward.
“We aim to enable our customers with tools that enhance their daily lives while extending beyond just financial aspects,” stated Tara Massoudi, the company’s general manager for premium products, positioning ChatGPT as a lifestyle advantage rather than merely a banking feature.
For OpenAI, the benefit lies in distribution. “We’re thrilled to collaborate with Revolut and introduce ChatGPT Go to millions of customers worldwide,” remarked Emmanuel Marill, OpenAI’s managing director for EMEA, in a partnership that provides access to tens of millions of users in one go.
This trend is significant. OpenAI has been integrating ChatGPT into workplaces and consumer applications, and partnerships like this transform other companies’ user bases into pathways for its subscriptions.
OpenAI is pursuing similar ventures in European finance, having established a parallel agreement with the London Stock Exchange Group around the same time, aiming to incorporate its models into major institutions on the continent rather than solely through its applications.
The Revolut agreement represents a straightforward arrangement. The bank acquires an attractive incentive to promote memberships, OpenAI gains millions of potential paying users after the complimentary months end, and customers receive up to a year of ChatGPT with a subscription they may already possess.
It’s important to clarify what this arrangement entails and what it does not. The perk is a free ChatGPT subscription rather than an access point that connects your financial data to an AI, and Revolut is not sharing your transaction history with OpenAI to enable it.
However, the trend is clear. The distinctions between banking applications and AI assistants are becoming less defined, and OpenAI has made its intentions known to connect ChatGPT more closely to financial matters, a prospect that presents both significant convenience and risks.
For now, the offer remains straightforward. Millions of Revolut customers are about to find ChatGPT Go available in their app, and OpenAI has secured one of the most extensive consumer distribution agreements a fintech can provide, one membership tier at a time.
