YouTube Premium is evolving into a streaming bundle by incorporating Peacock.

YouTube and NBCUniversal have finalized a new agreement that includes Peacock as part of YouTube Premium.

YouTube Premium is set to expand beyond just an ad-free subscription. Google and NBCUniversal have revealed a multi-year partnership that will offer Peacock Premium to eligible YouTube Premium subscribers in the U.S. starting in early 2027. When this rollout occurs, subscribers will be able to access Peacock’s ad-supported tier directly within the YouTube platform at no extra charge, merging YouTube’s current benefits with one of the largest streaming libraries in the United States.

      Benefits for YouTube Premium subscribers

This new bundle encompasses all features currently available through YouTube Premium—such as ad-free videos, background playback, offline downloads, and YouTube Music—while also granting access to Peacock Premium’s selection of TV programs, movies, and live sports. Consequently, subscribers will have the ability to stream popular content like Saturday Night Live, Love Island USA, Law & Order: SVU, major Universal films, and live sports events including the NFL, NBA, and the Olympics, without needing a separate Peacock subscription.

Google has also mentioned that users can opt to upgrade to Peacock Premium Plus for an ad-free streaming experience on Peacock. Outside the U.S., the companies intend to roll out additional international bundles that incorporate NBCUniversal’s Universal+ and Hayu streaming services in specific markets.

More than just a subscription package

The agreement is more than a mere combination of subscriptions. As part of this expanded partnership, certain NBC Sports events will also be available for free streaming on the NBC Sports YouTube channel, and NBCUniversal has renewed its distribution contract with YouTube TV. The two companies also aim to enhance their collaboration in areas such as advertising, technology, and sports production.

The timing is important for both organizations. YouTube Premium currently boasts over 125 million subscribers worldwide for both Premium and Music, whereas Peacock has recently surpassed 48 million subscribers in the U.S. and achieved profitability for the first time. For NBCUniversal, this partnership significantly broadens Peacock’s audience, while YouTube aims to redefine Premium as a more comprehensive entertainment subscription rather than just an ad-free YouTube service.

Google has yet to specify a precise launch date apart from early 2027, stating that more details will be disclosed as the release date approaches. This initiative reflects a prevailing trend in the streaming sector where companies are increasingly bundling their services to provide better value and alleviate subscription fatigue. For YouTube Premium subscribers, it translates to one less streaming service to worry about paying for next year.
