X might soon notify you when a post you liked or shared is subjected to fact-checking.

Elon Musk has stated that X will soon begin sending direct messages when a post you have engaged with receives a Community Note.

X offers one of the more effective anti-misinformation tools among social media platforms, allowing volunteer contributors to add brief notes to posts that might be misleading or lacking crucial information. Meta and TikTok appreciated this format enough to create their own adaptations last year called Community Notes and Footnotes, respectively. However, X’s Community Notes system has a significant drawback.

The timing issue with Community Notes

Before a Community Note can be published, contributors with opposing views must come to an agreement that the note is beneficial, which often takes a considerable amount of time. Contributors rate the notes until they achieve a consensus threshold, but many do not reach that point.

By the time a note is finally published, the post it addresses has frequently already been seen, shared, and accepted by a wide audience on the platform. Those who liked, commented on, or shared it prior to the note’s appearance likely have moved on and may have no reason to revisit it. Elon Musk aims to bridge that gap.

      The solution

In a recent update on X, Musk announced that the platform will soon launch a new Community Notes feature that sends users a direct message whenever a post they interacted with is corrected. This will ensure that users are informed of the correction immediately upon publication, rather than missing it entirely or relying on chance to notice it later.

We will be releasing a new @CommunityNotes feature that sends you an 𝕏 Chat message if a post you interacted with is corrected— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) July 8, 2026

Musk has not provided a timeline for when this feature will be available, and X has yet to clarify whether it will be on by default or if users will have the option to disable these notifications. If implemented, these alerts could transform Community Notes from a tool that users might accidentally discover into one that effectively reaches those who need the information most.

I already recognized that LinkedIn had a lot of AI-generated content. A surprising report indicates that the issue is even more severe than previously thought.

I was already aware that LinkedIn was inundated with posts created by AI, recycled leadership advice, and those tiresome entrepreneurship lessons. A new report indicates that the reality is significantly worse than what the platform’s feed suggests. The AI-detection company Pangram analyzed over one million posts through its Chrome extension across LinkedIn, X, Reddit, Medium, and Substack. LinkedIn made up about one-third of the total analyzed content, yet accounted for 62% of all posts flagged by Pangram as AI-generated.
