This plant identification app transforms each stroll into a Pokémon Go experience for flora.
flormie allows iPhone users to scan flowers, store them as collectibles, and create a more tranquil type of real-world collection game.

An innovative flower identification app aims to make daily walks feel somewhat similar to Pokémon Go, but with fewer raids and significantly less public phone shouting.
flormie is an iPhone application centered on a straightforward cycle: discover a flower outdoors, scan it, and incorporate it into a growing collection. This transforms a typical walk into a relaxed nature quest, without the need for battle mechanics on every sidewalk.
The app resembles a field journal infused with gaming elements rather than just another plant encyclopedia. It is available for free on the App Store, with optional scan packs offered via in-app purchases.
I designed and developed a flower identification app that transforms every flower you encounter into a collectible 🌸 – over 200 downloads in the first three days of the soft launch – created with @OpenAI codex, @cursor_ai, and @figma – very proud of my first indie app :) app store link below 👇 pic.twitter.com/rPKrIwkprK— Joan Li (@JoanLi223) July 2, 2026
How the collection loop operates
flormie doesn't need to turn flowers into creatures to make the concept work. The reward lies in the collection itself. Each scan serves as a small record of something real you observed outside, giving the app a purpose beyond just providing a basic plant ID.
This is where the Pokémon Go analogy applies best. It provides regular walks with a small goal while avoiding the competitive distractions and social pressures of a full-fledged location-based game. You are still engaging with the real world; the phone merely offers a reason to be attentive.
Why flormie is more effective in a small scale
The charm of flormie lies in its simplicity. It does not attempt to become a social feed or a plant-care platform that constantly reminds you about a sad ficus.
The app is available for iPhone and iPad, and its App Store privacy label states that no data is collected by the developer. This aligns perfectly with the concept behind it. A flower identification app doesn’t require much of your digital life to inform you that you just passed by something beautiful.

The latest version also introduces photo album uploads, meaning flormie isn't restricted to live scanning. An image taken during a walk or trip can still be added to the collection later.
Potential growth for the flower hunt
The main concern is reliability and friction in the free version. A collection loop will falter if flower scans feel unreliable or scan limits are imposed before a habit is formed.
That habit is the true challenge since flormie doesn’t need leaderboards or another social feed to be successful. It must encourage users to notice flowers they may have overlooked just moments before.
This is the beneficial aspect of the app. For those weary of applications that convert every idle moment into screen time, flormie shifts the camera outward and rewards users for looking around first.

OxygenOS made OnePlus phones remarkable. Now, it may disappear permanently.
The Android interface that established what a clean and efficient phone could be is officially coming to an end. ColorOS will take its place.
If you purchased a OnePlus for OxygenOS, appreciating the relatively clean, fast, and genuinely useful Android experience, your phone may be among the last to utilize it.
A report from the Indian source Smartprix suggests that OxygenOS and Realme UI are reportedly being phased out. If this is true, everything would transition to ColorOS, the Android skin used on Oppo smartphones globally, across all three brands.
