After five years on the same platform, both versions of the MacBook Pro are set to receive a redesign simultaneously.
According to Bloomberg, Apple is preparing to launch a new MacBook Pro early next year, specifically a 14-inch model in the first half of 2027.
The most notable aspect will be an entirely new design approach, identified as a “revamped entry-level MacBook Pro,” with the code name K104.
What details have been disclosed?
The key piece of information is that this lower-tier model will incorporate design features from the upcoming refresh of the high-end MacBook Pro, which is known to be under development and will include touch-sensitive OLED screens and a fresh design.
The anticipated introduction of a punch-hole camera to replace the current display notch would align the MacBook Pro series with the latest iPhone design.
It is also important to highlight that Apple has completed work on a separate interim 14-inch MacBook Pro (codenamed J804) scheduled for release later in 2026, which maintains the existing design but introduces the new M6 chip. The K104 represents the following redesign.
