Life360 now allows parents to request Uber rides for their teenagers directly from the app.

Life360 and Uber have introduced an integration that enables parents to request and manage Uber rides for their teenagers and other family members right from the Life360 app. By selecting a family member's real-time location on the Life360 map, parents can automatically fill in the pickup details in the Uber app. The progress of the trip can be tracked on both platforms.

Since its launch in 2023, Uber’s teen accounts, which cater to individuals aged 13 to 17, have completed tens of millions of rides in over 50 countries. Only highly rated, experienced drivers who have undergone extensive safety checks, including reviews of their motor vehicle records and criminal backgrounds, are eligible to accept ride requests from teenagers. Parents receive real-time notifications and can track the trip.

"During summer break, teens tend to take more trips to places like malls, movie theaters, sports camps, and other community locations, with more than 40% of teen rides occurring while many parents are still at work," stated Margarita Peker, Head of Family Verticals at Uber.

Life360 reports around 97.8 million monthly active users across more than 180 countries. The company aims to be viewed as a "family super app" by incorporating third-party services within its location-sharing platform. Uber is aggressively growing its services through partnerships involving autonomous vehicles, delivery, and family coordination.

The integration became available in selected markets on June 18 and is compatible with both iOS and Android devices. Life360 has previously faced criticism for selling the location data of millions of users, a detail worth considering for a feature that connects real-time teen locations to a ride-hailing service.
