A significant change could involve the Galaxy S27 Ultra, which, according to reports, may replace its longstanding 3x telephoto camera with a single 5x periscope zoom lens.

      A recent report from yeux1122 on Naver suggests that Samsung’s 5x periscope camera offers enhanced image quality and better stability for 3x zoom shots. If this information holds true, it could resolve a common criticism aimed at recent Galaxy Ultra models. Nevertheless, this raises a question about whether Samsung employs fusion technology to produce 3x zoom images using the 5x periscope.

      The report does not clarify how a fixed 5x periscope camera achieves 3x zoom photos since a lens with a set focal length cannot physically change to a shorter optical zoom level. Contemporary smartphones often merge data from various cameras and crop high-resolution sensors to simulate intermediate zoom levels.
