Pixar has just released the trailer for the Gatto movie, and it includes everything that a cat enthusiast could desire.
Pixar’s Gatto trailer showcases a breathtaking feline adventure set in Venice.
If you’ve ever observed your cat getting distracted during their zoomies by random objects, you’ll be excited for Pixar’s upcoming film. Disney and Pixar have unveiled the first trailer for Gatto, which appears to celebrate cats, the city of Venice, and stunning animation all at once.
What is Gatto really about?
Located in the canals of Venice, Gatto tells the story of Nero, a black cat who has spent years navigating a city rife with superstition. Nero begins to question whether he has truly lived out his nine lives correctly. Complications arise when he finds himself indebted to Rocco, a powerful feline mob boss. Nero's life takes an unexpected turn when an unusual friendship leads him to a greater purpose.
The trailer masterfully combines humor and emotion, while the film’s mobster-cat premise offers a fun twist. With its gorgeous visuals, Venetian backdrop, and a cat as the protagonist, Gatto already seems like one of Pixar’s most distinctive originals in many years, alongside this year's Hoppers.
The Gatto trailer also presents the film’s voice cast, featuring Mark Ruffalo as Nero and Laurence Fishburne as Rocco. Enrico Casarosa directs the film, while Andrea Warren produces it, the same duo behind the Oscar-nominated film Luca, also set in Italy.
What sets Gatto apart from other Pixar films?
Gatto marks Pixar’s first hand-painted animated feature, integrating hand-painted textures with its trademark CGI. This represents a bold creative direction for a studio that has relied on its polished CGI aesthetic for over three decades.
For cat enthusiasts, Pixar seems to perfectly capture what makes cats intriguing. Nero is curious, stubborn, independent, and perpetually getting into trouble. Additionally, he is a black cat, a choice that directly relates to the story’s themes of superstition and belonging.
The film is set to be released in theaters on March 5, 2027. If the trailer has achieved its goal, you might already be counting down the days.

EXCLUSIVE: The director of The Death of Robin Hood discusses reinventing a classic tale in his A24 film.
Michael Sarnoski shares his dark interpretation of Robin Hood in A24's The Death of Robin Hood. This reimagining of the classic medieval hero presents the legendary archer, portrayed by Hugh Jackman, as he struggles with a lifetime of violence and remorse. Following a near-fatal adventure, Robin Hood finds an unexpected chance for redemption under the guidance of the enigmatic Sister Brigid (Jodie Comer).
While Robin Hood has been adapted numerous times for film and television, Sarnoski's version is distinctly different from its predecessors. By reinterpreting familiar characters and placing them in a raw, intense storyline, Sarnoski revitalizes a centuries-old legend, giving it a more grounded, tragic, and compelling quality than ever before.
The trailer for The Social Reckoning has been released, and Jeremy Strong seems to be an ideal choice for the role of Mark Zuckerberg.
Aaron Sorkin returns with a sequel to The Social Network. Sixteen years ago, The Social Network transformed the origin of Facebook into one of the most celebrated films of the century. Now, Aaron Sorkin is back, this time as both writer and director. Sony Pictures has released the first complete trailer for The Social Reckoning today, and it delivers the intensity you would anticipate.
Technically, this is not a direct sequel but rather a companion piece that explores the aftermath of Facebook's evolution from a dorm room concept to a global platform, which hasn't always had positive implications.
