Control Resonant arrives in September with a new character to propel the sibling storyline.
The PS5 sequel set for September places Dylan in the spotlight, steering Remedy's supernatural narrative towards a more complex family struggle.
Control Resonant is set to debut on PS5 worldwide on September 24, and Remedy is distancing itself from the original game more significantly than just introducing a new city. Dylan Faden, rather than Jesse, will be the character players control this time.
This decision infuses the sequel with a stronger dynamic. Once seen as a menace, Dylan is now at the core of a tale revolving around power, trauma, and his connection to Jesse.
Why Dylan is now in charge
Dylan provides a fresh perspective on the Faden storyline without rehashing Jesse's ascent within the Federal Bureau of Control. His background is shaped more by the repercussions of their world rather than exploration.
The change also affects combat. Dylan wields the Aberrant, a shapeshifting weapon designed for aggressive close-quarters combat, offering a different style than Jesse and her Service Weapon.
This helps to make the transition feel deliberate. Remedy isn't merely swapping out the character on screen; it’s presenting gamers with a new physicality in the same haunted world.
What changes when Jesse steps aside
While Jesse’s journey focused on extracting truths from a hostile organization, Dylan starts from a more troubled foundation, with the impacts of that world already ingrained in him.
This places the unresolved history between Jesse and Dylan under significant strain. Though Jesse remains in the narrative, Dylan's role as the playable character compels the sequel to confront the issues between them directly instead of merely hinting at them.
The distorted setting of Manhattan allows this conflict to be more expansive. Moving beyond the Oldest House enables Remedy to amplify the threat while keeping the issues surrounding the Faden family intertwined with the action.
What players should anticipate next
Pre-orders are available now, but the more pressing question is how Remedy will manage the transition from Jesse to Dylan. The concern isn't about Dylan's potential for storytelling; it’s whether Control Resonant can justify his central role without diminishing Jesse's significance.
The PS5 Digital Deluxe Edition offers a 48-hour early access, allowing some players to begin on September 22, as opposed to September 24. For everyone else, the launch will reveal whether Dylan Faden can carry the emotional burden left unresolved by the first game.

Marvel’s Wolverine presents appropriately gory gameplay ahead of its September 15 release
Logan’s claws take center stage in Marvel’s Wolverine’s intense new gameplay trailer.
Insomniac Games showcased an extended gameplay trailer for its PS5 exclusive during Sony’s latest State of Play, clearly demonstrating that this is a Wolverine game focused on blood, fury, and brutal close-quarters combat. The trailer features Logan cutting through Reavers with claw strikes, stealth kills, aerial ambushes, and execution-style finishers that result in a blood-spattered screen. The combat appears rapid and fierce, allowing Logan to parry, close distances, and dismantle foes using techniques like Tornado Spin and Bull Rush.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is set to make a significant impact early next year on PlayStation 5
Lara Croft returns to her origins, but this is more than just a remaster. Announced during PlayStation’s State of Play presentation, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will launch on PlayStation 5 on February 12, 2027, offering a complete reimagining of the original 1996 adventure. Developed by Crystal Dynamics in collaboration with Flying Wild Hog and powered by Unreal Engine 5, the game aims to recreate Lara’s inaugural expedition with detail and scale that were impossible thirty years ago. Early gameplay footage suggests it will be far beyond a simple nostalgia trip.
God of War Laufey features Kratos’ wife in action against deceased deities and is coming soon
Santa Monica Studio’s next main PS5 title centers on Faye as she navigates an afterlife realm where gods from various mythologies intersect.
In this installment of God of War, Kratos is not the protagonist. Instead, Faye, also referred to as Laufey, takes charge in a PS5 action game set in the Everywhen, a realm of the afterlife where fallen gods from different mythologies meet. The release date, pricing, or regional rollout details have yet to be announced by Sony.
