The Xiaomi 17T Pro competes strongly with the iPhone 17, featuring Leica cameras and a large battery.

Xiaomi has introduced the Xiaomi 17T Pro in Europe and the U.K. alongside the regular Xiaomi 17T. The Pro variant is the more advanced model, featuring a larger display, Leica-branded cameras, a bigger battery, and MediaTek’s latest flagship chip.

The camera setup is highlighted by a larger sensor with Leica technology

The camera system is the standout feature of the 17T Pro. It boasts a triple rear camera configuration, led by a 50MP Light Fusion 950 main sensor. This sizeable 1/1.31-inch sensor comes with optical image stabilization and an f/1.67 Leica Summilux lens, enhancing low-light performance and detail capture.

Additionally, Xiaomi has incorporated a 50MP 5x periscope telephoto camera with OIS, offering 10x optical-quality zoom, likely achieved through sensor cropping and image processing, and extending to 120x with AI-enhanced zoom capabilities. This telephoto camera can also be utilized for macro photography from as close as 30cm.

On the back, there is a 12MP ultra-wide camera with an f/2.2 aperture. For selfies, the phone is equipped with a 32MP camera that can record 4K video at 30fps. The primary camera is capable of recording 8K videos at 30fps and 4K footage at 60fps.

Xiaomi has introduced Leica Live Moment, a feature akin to Live Photos, which captures short motion clips around a still image. This feature functions across all three rear cameras and includes support for Xiaomi’s Leica color profiles.

The overall package is equally impressive

The Xiaomi 17T Pro features a 6.83-inch 1.5K OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits, and Gorilla Glass 7i protection. The company has included its Vision Care display system, which adapts to ambient light conditions and manages blue light, flicker, and motion blur.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the 3nm MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chip, paired with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. It runs on HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. Another key feature is its impressive 7,000mAh battery, which supports 100W wired HyperCharge, 50W wireless charging, and 100W PPS charging.

The phone is available in Deep Blue, Deep Violet, and Black. Pricing begins at €899.90/£799 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. The 512GB model is priced at €999.90/£849, while the 1TB version costs €1,099.90/£949. At this price point, the Xiaomi 17T Pro directly competes with the iPhone 17, while offering a larger battery, faster charging, and a comprehensive Leica camera system.
