Lenovo Innovation Accelerator leverages ecosystem strength to elevate Chinese hard-tech startups to an international level.
As the AI industry swiftly moves into a challenging phase, competition that relies solely on scaling parameters is no longer sufficient for establishing lasting advantages. The technologies and products that can effectively operate in commercial environments and address real-world challenges are becoming the new focal point of industry competition.
A central platform in Lenovo’s innovation ecosystem strategy is the Lenovo Innovation Accelerator, which harnesses the resources of a leading industry player to assist Chinese hard-tech startups in closing the gap between technology development and market application.
During this year's BEYOND Expo 2026, the Lenovo Innovation Accelerator highlighted nine hard-tech startups, including Hangzhou Om AI Technology, Meta-Bounds, SpacemiT, Yanshan Technology, and AutoArk. Together, they showcased Lenovo's ecosystem strategy across three principal areas: AI edge intelligence, AI hardware interaction, and advanced manufacturing.
These products range from RISC-V AI chips and AI creative workstations to AI glasses, dynamic gesture interactions, neural-control headphones, Micro-LED technology, perovskite solar batteries, and next-gen cooling solutions. They not only exemplified the integration of digital and physical elements but also illustrated Lenovo’s vision for the AI industry’s future.
Established in 2022, the Lenovo Innovation Accelerator's mission extends beyond mere investment in startups; it focuses on creating a comprehensive innovation platform that encompasses product development, supply chain support, ecosystem collaboration, and global resources. Lenovo believes that genuine innovation cannot be achieved by an individual company alone but must be fostered through the collaboration of an ecosystem. Thus, the accelerator emphasizes mutual empowerment—supporting startups’ growth while enabling Lenovo to acquire new technologies and product capabilities from the innovation ecosystem.
Unlike traditional venture capital firms, the Lenovo Innovation Accelerator prioritizes industrial collaborations and sustainable business ecosystems over mere financial yields. Utilizing Lenovo's advantages in global supply chains, intelligent manufacturing, and international sales channels, the accelerator aids startups in swiftly transforming lab technologies into scalable, market-ready products. Moreover, many startups eventually become Lenovo's customers or supply chain partners, fostering a true ecosystem cycle.
In the AI domain, the Lenovo Innovation Accelerator is concentrating on AI applications and AI-native hardware. Regarding software, the accelerator emphasizes vertical AI applications that meaningfully address real-world challenges for businesses and consumers, especially products suitable for on-device deployment that provide benefits in cost, security, and efficiency. On the hardware front, Lenovo is focusing on AI-native devices designed specifically for AI algorithms and applications, aiming to allow users to access AI capabilities more seamlessly and effectively.
When assessing startup teams, Lenovo prioritizes technical innovation and execution capabilities. The accelerator aims to help nascent ideas develop into substantial entities and thus values projects that feature cutting-edge technologies, novel concepts, and significant customer value. Additionally, the ability of the team to endure over time and successfully commercialize products is deemed essential.
Over the past three years, the Lenovo Innovation Accelerator has facilitated upwards of 100 commercialization projects, with more than a dozen startups integrating into Lenovo’s mass-production product ecosystem. The Focus Sound Screen PC, developed in collaboration with Audfly Acoustics, has entered mass production, while Taifang Technology’s elastic wave technology has been incorporated into Lenovo laptop touchpads, achieving millions of units shipped. Lenovo also assisted Syrius Robotics in establishing its first intelligent robotic production line.
On the globalization front, the Lenovo Innovation Accelerator is engaged in introducing products from Chinese hard-tech startups to international markets. With support from Lenovo's global channels, supply chain resources, and international business expertise, the accelerator aids startups in overcoming market entry and cultural challenges.
Through international technology events like the BEYOND Expo, startups are encouraged to adopt a global outlook from the outset. This year, Silicon Valley has emerged as one of the accelerator's key overseas strategic focuses, with ambitions to expand its international partner network and cultivate a more open global innovation ecosystem.
As the competition in AI gradually transitions from foundational models to application and hardware integration, the Lenovo Innovation Accelerator aims to serve as a conduit connecting Chinese innovation with global markets. In this reconfiguration of the AI industry, its objective is not only to foster the growth of more startups but also to contribute to the establishment of a genuinely open, collaborative, and global technology innovation ecosystem.
