Sennheiser's latest Momentum 5 headphones offer improved audio quality, active noise cancellation, and an added advantage in terms of repairability.

The Sennheiser Momentum 5 ranks among the most carefully designed premium headphones of 2026.

Sennheiser has discreetly launched the Momentum 5 wireless headphones, which serve as the successor to 2022’s Momentum 4, yet the official press release seems to downplay its standout features.

Indeed, the active noise cancellation has improved, and the audio quality has been enhanced. However, the three aspects that truly differentiate these headphones are buried deep within the specifications, and at least one of these features won't even function when the headphones are released.

What sets the Momentum 5 apart?

To me, the most significant advancement in the Momentum 5 is the replaceable battery. The headphones come equipped with a 700 mAh battery (providing up to 57 hours of use—three hours less than the Momentum 4) that you can replace by yourself using a small Phillips-head screwdriver.

Recently, Marshall also introduced the Milton ANC headphones, which feature a user-replaceable battery, and now Sennheiser follows suit with the Momentum 5. This development deserves more recognition as it allows these headphones to last beyond the point when a sealed battery can no longer hold a charge.

Additionally, the Momentum 5 offers up to three hours of playback after just five minutes of charging. Another notable feature is the inclusion of Snapdragon Sound with aptX Lossless support, enabling lossless wireless audio playback.

However, to access this functionality, you need to pair them with Sennheiser’s BTD 700 dongle. The device will also receive Bluetooth v6.0 through a firmware update in the future.

      So, what’s the drawback?

One of the key announcements, Dolby Atmos with head tracking, won’t be available when the headphones launch on June 16, 2026. Instead, it will be delivered as a firmware update on the first day; you’ll need to install it before activating head tracking on the Momentum 5.

Leading with an unready feature seems peculiar to me, but it won't be an issue if Sennheiser provides the OTA update on schedule. On the hardware side, the Momentum 5 is outfitted with four microphones per ear cup, boasting up to three times better noise cancellation.

You also gain access to an 8-band equalizer through the Smart Control Plus app. The price has increased from $350 to $400, representing a $50 increase, which may not pose an issue for the brand’s customer base after all. The headphones will come in three color options: black, white, and blue.

Smart glasses are making a comeback, but this time they aim to appear more conventional.

The latest generation of AI eyewear appears calmer, better styled, and less easily dismissed than Google Glass. That seems to be the goal, doesn’t it?

More than ten years ago, as a hopeful and enthusiastic technology reporter, I watched Google’s Project Glass video and nearly teared up. The future appeared so pristine in that advertisement. Directions seemed to float in front of you. Photos could be taken with a simple voice command. Life looked seamless, interconnected, and just stylish enough to make wearing a small computer on your face seem profound rather than bizarre.

It seems watchOS 27 will primarily enhance your Apple Watch experience rather than introduce new features.

The Apple Watch significantly shaped the modern smartwatch market when it debuted in 2015. It transformed wearables from niche gadgets into mainstream consumer products, bringing billions in revenue to Apple and eventually serving as a portal into the company's extensive health and wearables ecosystem. However, more than a decade later, Apple appears to be navigating a more uncertain phase in a category it once led.

According to Mark Gurman’s PowerOn newsletter from Bloomberg, watchOS 27 is anticipated to concentrate mainly on stability improvements, performance enhancements, and minor updates, instead of introducing significant new features. While Apple reportedly is refining heart-rate tracking behind the scenes, the update may not include the kind of prominent innovations that previously characterized the Apple Watch platform.

iOS 27 could simplify the management of your AirPods.

For years, AirPods Pro users have requested something surprisingly simple from Apple: an efficient method to manage their earbuds—rather than complicated menus or scattered toggles hidden deep in Bluetooth settings. They seek a straightforward, dedicated interface that makes controlling AirPods feel as polished as the hardware itself. Now, according to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple is finally working on a major revamp of the AirPods settings interface within iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27.

AirPods have evolved far beyond mere wireless earbuds. Features like head gesture recognition, adaptive audio, hearing aid capabilities, and advanced noise control have made them increasingly sophisticated devices. Yet, the software experience managing these features still feels underdeveloped compared to products like the Apple
