Google's latest tool will eliminate the lengthy delay for iOS apps to be available on your Android device.
Android users are accustomed to the routine where a new and exciting app appears on the iPhone first, leaving them to wait for months or, in some cases, never see a version for Android. However, Google may have developed a method to reduce that waiting time. At Google I/O 2026, the company showcased a new Migration Assistant feature within Android Studio, aimed at helping developers transition existing apps from platforms like iOS, React Native, and web frameworks to native Android applications.
How it could speed up the process of porting to Android

The Migration Assistant functions by allowing developers to choose an existing project and pass it to an AI agent in Android Studio. This new tool from Google can effectively map features, convert assets such as storyboards and SVGs, and reconstruct the app using Android best practices.
This tool is not a basic code converter that produces chaotic Android files. Google asserts that it leverages Jetpack Compose and recommended Jetpack libraries, ensuring the outcome is a genuine native Android app rather than a subpar port.
The goal is to transform what used to be a weeks-long manual porting process into one that can be completed in hours. This is significant for smaller teams that often prioritize iOS first due to constraints like time, cost, or limited engineering resources.
Why this is advantageous for developers
While the benefits for regular Android users are clear, developers gain even more. They can expedite the conversion of iOS apps, resulting in Android versions that arrive sooner and are likely to be more refined from the outset. Imagine a niche app or a clever indie tool that isn’t available on Android—Migration Assistant can help to address that gap. Google also highlighted the Android launch of Notability in its I/O developer summary as an example of a top-tier productivity app developed for Android using Jetpack Compose, Navigation 3, and Kotlin Multiplatform.
The Migration Assistant is part of Google’s larger initiative to enhance Android development through AI agents, simplifying the more tedious aspects of app development. Although developers still need to test and refine the final product, this adds a level of convenience.

You can now legally request the removal of intimate images from apps, if you can navigate the complexities involved.
The Take It Down Act mandates that platforms remove nonconsensual intimate images, whether real or AI-generated, within 48 hours of receiving a legitimate complaint. For years, victims of revenge porn and nonconsensual deepfake content lacked reliable means to have that material removed. State laws varied, and tech platforms often delayed or did not take action. This is changing now.
As of May 19, the Take It Down Act is in full effect across the United States, imposing civil penalties of up to $53,088 per violation on platforms that do not comply.

A leak regarding the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 suggests it will have a disappointing set of missing features.
Samsung’s next foldable device may focus on refinement once again, indicating that substantial upgrades are still some time away. A new leak from a known source, Ice Universe, suggests that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series will lack three crucial upgrades that could have made Samsung's next flagship foldable much more compelling. This could potentially put the Galaxy Z Fold 8 at a disadvantage against the rumored iPhone Fold.
