Revopoint POP 4 is now available on Kickstarter: the first AI-driven 3D scanner featuring photorealistic 3D Gaussian Splatting export.

Promoted as the first AI-driven, high-precision, and adaptable 3D scanner in the world, the POP 4 incorporates real-time AI segmentation and 3D Gaussian Splatting within a hybrid blue-laser-and-infrared setup. As the latest and most sophisticated addition to the POP series, the POP 4 is designed to manage everything from complex geometries to larger items, including surfaces that are black and shiny, which previous POP models struggled to scan directly—eliminating the need for scanning sprays or markers.

The Revopoint POP 4 Kickstarter campaign is currently underway, offering early-backer pricing and bundle information available here.

For 3D creators and artists, the POP 4 easily integrates into their current workflows. Users can scan a broken component for reprinting, capture an existing piece for alteration, or develop a reference model for new designs. The exported mesh directly enters a slicer without requiring extensive CAD modifications, allowing the POP 4 to feel less like a standalone measurement tool and more like a smooth extension of a maker's typical process.

      Real-time AI object segmentation

      Revopoint

It's common for 3D scanning professionals to spend more time on manual editing than on the scanning itself. The POP 4 offers an effective solution with AI-driven object segmentation that recognizes the target object in real time and filters out unwanted elements like desks or background distractions during scanning. Even the operator's fingers are excluded from the model while holding the part during the scan.

3D Gaussian Splatting based on accurate geometry

Currently, most 3D Gaussian Splatting captures are derived from phone video or DSLR footage, which, while visually impressive, often lack reliable underlying geometry. The POP 4 changes this strategy. It bases splats on a structured-light scan with an accuracy of up to 0.03 mm, yielding a visually accurate and measurable spatial result.

The result is photorealistic imagery with translucency, reflections, and view-dependent highlights, maintaining dimensional accuracy. For quick prototyping, realistic augmented reality scene capture, or replacing extensive manual modeling time, it provides a new starting point compared to existing 3DGS methods.

A versatile scanning system for indoor and outdoor applications

The POP 4 combines blue multi-line laser, near-infrared full-field structured light, and VCSEL structured light into a cohesive platform. Its five scanning modes are tailored to accommodate a variety of indoor and outdoor scenarios.

The Full-Field HD mode is optimized for high-detail point cloud capture at up to 5 million points per second (depending on the PC hardware), while VCSEL Rapid focuses on rapid capture at up to 30 frames per second and remains stable in direct sunlight up to 100,000 lux. Hybrid HD amalgamates both modes for precise surface modeling with consistent tracking. The 30 cross-laser lines mode is created for shiny and dark surfaces at up to 2 million points per second, while the single-line mode is intended for deep holes, crevices, and vents.

      Precision, speed, and scale

In multi-line laser mode, the POP 4 achieves a volumetric accuracy of 0.03 mm + 0.05 mm × L (m), with a fused point distance of up to 0.05 mm and single-frame accuracy of 0.03 mm. Scan speeds can reach up to 105 frames per second, contingent on system configuration.

Its working distance varies from 200 mm to 800 mm depending on the chosen mode, enabling close-range blue-laser scanning at 200 mm and larger-area VCSEL scans at distances up to 800 mm.

The device can operate outdoors in lighting conditions as bright as 100,000 lux. Detailed blue-laser scans can function flawlessly at a full 100,000 lux using the Outdoor Blue Filter provided in the KS Special Edition and Software Bundle rewards. Without the filter, blue-laser scanning works in lighting conditions up to 50,000 lux.

      Wireless functionality and cohesive workflow

The POP 4 is designed for wireless scanning via smartphones or tablets, powered by the included 5500 mAh battery grip (Premium Edition) that provides approximately four hours of mobile use.

Data acquired in Revo Scan can be seamlessly transferred to Revo Measure for measurement and inspection, or to Revo Design for reverse engineering tasks. The integration of hardware and software workflows positions the POP 4 as more than just a scanning tool, but as part of a connected ecosystem for 3D creation tailored for design, prototyping, and reverse engineering.

      Pricing and availability

The Revopoint POP 4 will launch on Kickstarter on May 7, offering introductory pricing with discounts of up to 30% for early participants. With a suggested retail price of $919, the POP 4 is positioned as a capability-focused scanner
