The company has introduced a personal finance feature for ChatGPT, currently available in preview for Pro subscribers in the U.S. at a monthly cost of $200. OpenAI plans to extend this feature to Plus users after collecting feedback from this initial rollout.

      This feature allows you to link your financial accounts via Plaid, a service that connects banking apps with third-party services, and supports over 12,000 institutions such as Chase, Fidelity, Schwab, and American Express.

      A preview for Pro users: ChatGPT now offers a fresh personal finance experience. Users in the U.S. can securely link their financial accounts, track their spending, and inquire about the information they choose to connect.

      What information can ChatGPT access when you link your financial accounts?

      After connecting your accounts, ChatGPT can view your balances, spending patterns, active subscriptions, upcoming payments, stock portfolio, and liabilities like credit card debts and mortgages. However, it cannot alter your accounts or see full account numbers.

      A dashboard provides an overview of your finances, and you can ask the chatbot questions about recent changes in spending or how to prepare for purchasing a home. OpenAI claims that its latest GPT-5.5 model is more adept at financial reasoning than earlier versions.

      Support for Intuit will be introduced soon, enabling ChatGPT to evaluate aspects such as the tax implications of selling stocks or your likelihood of being approved for credit cards and loans.

      OpenAI assures users that they maintain control, with the option to disconnect accounts at any time. When you disconnect, synced data is removed within 30 days. Additionally, you can delete financial information stored in memories and decide if your data can be used to train OpenAI’s models.

Your bank account details, spending habits, and credit card obligations are highly personal. Ultimately, whether you trust an AI chatbot with such sensitive information is a personal decision.

      This launch follows the introduction of ChatGPT Health in January, which similarly raised concerns regarding the handling of sensitive personal information. Earlier today, OpenAI also incorporated Codex into the ChatGPT mobile app, enabling users to manage and guide AI-enabled coding sessions directly from iOS and Android.
