Galaxy users might see a streamlined notification bar

Push notifications are beneficial until apps misuse them as free advertising space. This problem is particularly irritating on Android, where promotional messages are often not distinctly separated from critical notifications. Users frequently have to guess which settings manage ads, leading many to disable notifications altogether to eliminate the spam.

Samsung seems to be addressing this concern with a new Device Care update designed to identify and block apps that generate an excessive number of promotional notifications.

How will Samsung prevent ad-heavy apps?

The feature was discovered by X user Kailash (via Sammy Fans), who shared screenshots of a new Device Care update for Samsung devices. These screenshots display Device Care version 13.8.80.7, which includes a new option titled “Block apps with excessive ads.” The update is supposedly being rolled out via the Galaxy Store, but availability may differ based on device and region.

Samsung's solution aims to target apps that continuously send advertisement notifications. Once an app is flagged, Device Care can put it into deep sleep mode, halting its background activity and, in turn, limiting its capacity to send unwanted promotional alerts.

Can users manage what Samsung blocks?

The screenshots indicate that Samsung will provide two blocking options. Basic Blocking identifies apps that frequently send ad notifications, while Intelligent Blocking analyzes notifications in real time to determine if they are ads and how often they are sent. The second option might be more beneficial, though Samsung warns it may not always be accurate. Users will have the ability to review blocked apps later and unblock them if needed.

Users can check flagged apps by navigating to Settings, then Device care, opening Care report, and selecting Excessive alerts. Currently, the feature seems restricted to the Galaxy S26 series. Those with older devices might need to manually download the update from third-party platforms like APKMirror if they wish to test it.

I have around four years of experience, primarily focusing on gaming, PC hardware, and smartphones. During my leisure time, I enjoy...

I tested the AI Image to Video 2.0 feature on the Honor 600 Pro, and it turned out to be better than I had expected.

I approached it with skepticism, but I was pleasantly surprised. AI is everywhere, and often in ways that the average tech-obsessed individual might overlook. However, among the many AI applications, some stand out as genuinely enjoyable. Effortlessly converting still images into short videos is one such feature that I would love to use without any intrusive permissions or unnecessary complications.

I discovered this capability with my current daily phone, the Honor 600 Pro, and the results have been impressive. While it's not exactly a groundbreaking feature, what caught my attention was how Honor has refined it. There are no sign-up hurdles, seamless integration into the system gallery, and the conversion process is straightforward. There’s even a dedicated button on the phone that instantly accesses this AI image transformation.

A Qualcomm leak hints that we have entered the outrageous era of expensive phones.

Your next Android flagship might be more costly due to one tiny chip.

We have reached a point where the processor in a flagship phone could be as expensive as an entire budget Android device. While this sounds outrageous, it reflects the direction premium phones are taking. Samsung has already increased the starting price of the Galaxy S26 by $100 compared to the Galaxy S25, and the next generation of Android flagships may see even higher price tags.

According to a recent leak from tipster Abhishek Yadav, Qualcomm's forthcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro could exceed $300 in cost, significantly elevating the production costs for next-gen Android flagships.

Apple's 2028 iPhone display seems improbable, but Samsung and LG are rushing to develop it.

Android phones have featured curved displays for years, accepting the distortion as a trade-off for aesthetics. Apple is investing two years and billions in supplier funding to avoid this compromise.

Apple does not simply request its suppliers to create products; it dictates the requirements, sets deadlines, and oversees the flow of billions into product lines and supply chains. The company is reportedly urging Samsung and LG to develop an entirely new OLED cathode material known as IZO (Indium Zinc Oxide) for a four-sided flexible display planned for the iPhones of 2028 (via ETnews).
