Webidoo secures $25 million to develop an 'AI operating layer' aimed at small businesses.

The startup Webidoo, based in Milan and Chicago and supported by Azimut Libera Impresa’s IXC3 fund, aims to enhance agentic AI for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and seek acquisitions in the United States. The Italian-American AI firm, which develops software for SMBs, has secured $25 million in a funding round led by the IXC3 fund, which is managed by Azimut Libera Impresa SGR. This investment translates to approximately €21 million at current exchange rates and ranks among the largest AI fundraising efforts for a European company targeting SMBs this year.

Headquartered in Milan and with an office in Chicago, Webidoo plans to utilize the funds to expand its AI operating layer for small businesses, incorporate agentic AI for automating key business processes, and finance acquisitions of SaaS and marketing firms in the US. Andrea Cornetti, the CEO of Azimut Group’s real estate and infrastructure division, remarked that the deal aligns with the IXC3 fund’s mission to support Italian SMEs with global ambitions. He emphasized that Webidoo stands out due to its ecosystem that focuses on measurable outcomes and the potential for international growth.

The financial details disclosed in conjunction with the funding announcement present a rare level of clarity for an AI startup at this stage. Webidoo reported over $18 million in revenue for 2025, along with more than $3 million in EBITDA. The combination of this revenue generation, positive EBITDA, and backing from growth-stage investors positions Webidoo closer to becoming a profitable scale-up compared to many of its loss-making AI counterparts.

Webidoo argues that small businesses often rely on a disjointed array of SaaS tools, and the lack of integration between these tools results in higher productivity losses than the benefits provided by any single tool. The company's platform is designed to serve as that integration solution. According to Webidoo, its agentic-AI layer automates routine workflows that would typically require human intervention. The company claims, based on internal customer data, that SMEs utilizing its platform experience productivity improvements exceeding 40%.

The company’s strategic push into the US market is particularly noteworthy. In recent years, Italian and broader European tech sectors have been discussing how to scale internationally while maintaining local relevance. Webidoo is adopting a more straightforward approach by acquiring US SaaS and marketing firms that already have established customer relationships and layering its own platform on top of those. The success of this strategy will depend on the cost discipline in these acquisitions and the expenses associated with their integration.

Azimut Libera Impresa’s IXC3 fund, officially known as Imprese per la Crescita 3, is part of the private-markets segment of the publicly listed Azimut Group. Its objective is to support Italian SMEs with plans for international growth. Webidoo joins a select but expanding group of European AI companies whose investors also act as their distribution partners.
