Apple is gearing up for its 20th anniversary iPhone, which could feature a fully glass design, eliminate buttons, and make the current iPhones seem outdated.
Is Apple preparing for its most significant iPhone redesign in years?
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has given further credence to the iPhone 20 redesign rumors. In the Q&A section of his Power On newsletter, Gurman noted that the overhaul for the 20th-anniversary iPhone is internally dubbed “Glasswing,” named after the glasswing butterfly and its transparent wings.
According to Gurman, the design will incorporate glass edges that smoothly curve into the display on all sides. He also mentioned that Apple’s Liquid Glass interface is being developed around this hardware concept, with software designed to visually integrate with the iPhone’s glass-dominated design. The aim seems to be a closer connection between the device and its operating system.
Earlier reports have suggested that Apple is looking to reintroduce curved-screen designs. This new aesthetic may focus on creating a seamless visual appearance rather than reviving the sharply sloped waterfall displays characteristic of some older Android models.
Could the iPhone 18 initiate this change sooner?
The aspect of the device being buttonless comes from a previous Weibo leak by Chinese insider Instant Digital from October 2025. This source claimed that Apple’s plan for solid-state buttons had successfully passed functional verification and was being readied for mass production for the 2027 iPhone 20.
According to that leak, buttons including the power, volume, Action, and Camera Control buttons could transition to solid-state controls with localized vibration feedback. This would enable the iPhone to mimic a physical click without traditional mechanical buttons.
Instant Digital also suggested that Apple might start this transition earlier with the iPhone 18. The Camera Control button is expected to simplify by removing the capacitive sensing layer while maintaining pressure recognition.
Ming-Chi Kuo had previously indicated that Apple was developing solid-state power and volume buttons for the iPhone 15 Pro, but this feature was later put on hold due to technical and manufacturing challenges. If Apple has resolved those issues, the iPhone 20 could finally be fully buttonless.

An infamous “Apple copycat” has introduced a clever smartphone battery upgrade that Apple should imitate.
Xiaomi’s battery upgrade initiative is precisely what older iPhones require.
Xiaomi has often faced accusations of drawing inspiration from Apple. However, this time, the tables need to turn. The company has broadened its paid battery upgrade program in China to include the Xiaomi 13, 13 Pro, and 13 Ultra. Unlike standard battery replacements where companies simply exchange worn-out cells for ones with the same capacity, Xiaomi is providing larger batteries that enhance the endurance of older devices.

Apple pays $250 million to compensate iPhone users due to Siri's inadequacies.
Siri’s much-delayed upgrade is no longer merely an embarrassing setback for Apple's AI, as the company has agreed to a substantial settlement. Apple will pay $250 million to resolve a class-action lawsuit claiming it misled U.S. iPhone buyers about the AI-powered Siri features touted as part of Apple Intelligence. According to the Financial Times, the lawsuit centers around Apple's promise of a more personalized Siri, which was first presented at WWDC 2024 and marketed alongside newer iPhone models.
