You can now secure your ChatGPT account using a unique USB key.
If you have ever been concerned about someone accessing your ChatGPT account, OpenAI has introduced a new feature that deserves your attention.
The company has launched an opt-in feature called Advanced Account Security, which is precisely what it claims to be. You can now secure your account using a physical security key, now available to standard ChatGPT users.
What occurs when you activate it
This feature consolidates multiple protections instead of requiring you to sift through various settings menus. Password-based login is completely turned off and replaced by passkeys or physical security keys. Session durations are reduced, making it impossible to use a stolen login indefinitely. You will receive notifications when someone attempts to sign into your account. Additionally, conversations from accounts enrolled in this feature are automatically excluded from model training, so you won’t need to search for that setting separately.
The account recovery aspect is where it becomes critical. Recovery through email and SMS is disabled, meaning that if you lose your keys, OpenAI Support will not be able to assist you in regaining access. The most common method for account takeovers is compromised email or phone numbers, so eliminating that option is a significant improvement.
OpenAI is collaborating with Yubico to enhance the accessibility of hardware
Instead of simply directing users to Google search results, OpenAI has partnered with Yubico — a well-known name in hardware authentication — to offer discounted YubiKey bundles. The bundle includes two keys: one small enough to remain in your laptop's port and another featuring NFC for mobile use. This is a clever approach, as the biggest obstacle to hardware security has always been the challenge of getting started, and easing the financial barrier makes it more feasible.
While this initiative is commendable, I believe that most casual ChatGPT users may not need it just yet. However, the environment is evolving. People are using ChatGPT for sensitive conversations related to work, legal inquiries, medical queries, and business strategies. An account containing months of such information is a valuable target. OpenAI's decision to offer this feature now, before a significant data breach headline compels action, is the right move — and it indicates that AI companies are beginning to take security as seriously as the data they are managing.

ChatGPT recently introduced ads, and Google has not dismissed the possibility of ads in the Gemini app.
Gemini may not remain ad-free amid the rise of ChatGPT advertising.
OpenAI has begun testing ads within ChatGPT, and AI companies are currently exploring whether advertisements embedded in an AI chatbot can function without frustrating users. Recently, Google indicated that the Gemini app might not escape this business model indefinitely. During Alphabet’s Q1 2026 earnings call, Google Chief Business Officer Philipp Schindler was asked directly about the potential for ads in the Gemini app. He provided a measured response, stating that Google is primarily focusing on the free tier, subscriptions, and AI developments while prioritizing the monetization of AI Mode in Search first.

AI outperformed doctors in emergency diagnoses during Harvard studies.
AI excelled over doctors in emergency triage, but there's no need to let go of your physician just yet.
AI has several complicated applications, but emergency medicine may be one area where it can truly excel. A study conducted by Harvard that compared AI's performance against that of doctors, utilizing patient data from emergency room cases, found that OpenAI's o1 reasoning model surpassed human doctors in emergency triage diagnoses, particularly in scenarios where rapid decisions were required with limited information.
What did the study reveal?
