Even Reality's smart glasses deliver the coding terminal directly to your eye.
Even Realities has launched the v2.2.0 update for its Even G2 smart glasses, featuring Terminal Mode as its primary highlight. This update is now active, providing developers a novel method to monitor and engage with coding agents without needing to be tethered to a laptop display.
Your terminal is now in your line of sight
Terminal Mode revolves around the concept of placing the coding terminal directly in front of the user’s eyes. Developers utilizing AI coding agents can observe the agent's activities, monitor progress, issue commands, and respond as necessary through the integrated microphone of the glasses. This feature minimizes the need to frequently return to a laptop, allowing users greater mobility to manage tasks or even exercise during coding intervals.
CEO Will Wang shared in an interview that the inspiration for this feature emerged after a recent trip to Silicon Valley, where he noticed more developers communicating with AI agents through microphones rather than typing every command. These agents can now autonomously manage most of the work, making the Even G2’s built-in microphone and virtual terminal display a natural fit for this style of workflow.
While it may seem geeky, donning a computer on your face is equally so. Terminal Mode enhances what the G2 already excels at, presenting just enough information to keep users engaged and applies this to coding.
Terminal Mode aligns with Even Realities’ goal of enhancing the G2's functionality beyond simple notifications. The glasses have also introduced features for meeting preparation and the ability to run applications directly in the wearer’s field of vision.
The tech-savvy features don't stop here
The v2.2.0 update comes with several additional enhancements. Records from Conversate and Translate can now be exported. The Even AI now accommodates continuous conversations, eliminating the need for users to repeat a wake-up command during an active dialogue. Additionally, Even Realities mentions upgrades to sleep algorithms and improvements in connection stability.
While Terminal Mode may seem tailored to a specific audience, for developers already utilizing AI agents, it could serve as a practical second screen for swift updates, approvals, and progress monitoring. Although this feature is currently niche, it clarifies the Even G2’s role in developer workflows beyond basic smart glasses notifications.
