Your iPhone is becoming more intelligent: Here's what Apple Intelligence is capable of in iOS 27.
Apple
Apple has been consistently enhancing Apple Intelligence since its introduction, and iOS 27 may prove to be the most ambitious update for this initiative yet. Backend code uncovered by developer Nicolás Alvarez, later verified by MacRumors, indicates that at least four new AI-driven features are on the way for system apps. Although these details haven't been officially confirmed, the evidence is quite convincing.
Visual intelligence is evolving
Two of the four features aim to enhance what Visual Intelligence can achieve, aligning with Apple's future hardware plans. The company is reportedly working on AI wearables, which may include smart glasses, AirPods with cameras, and an AI pin or pendant. All of these devices would depend significantly on Visual Intelligence, making it logical for Apple to improve this feature now.
The first new capability would allow users to point their camera at a food nutrition label to retrieve detailed information, likely with integration into the Health app. The second feature would identify printed phone numbers and addresses, offering to save them directly to your Contacts. Apple already implements a similar feature for calendar dates, so extending this logic to contact information seems like a natural progression.
Wallet will become even more functional
The Wallet app is expected to gain functionality that allows users to generate digital passes by scanning physical cards and tickets, including gym membership cards, event tickets, loyalty cards, and similar items. Google Wallet on Android has had comparable features for a while, so Apple is playing catch-up rather than introducing something entirely new, but it will still be a valuable addition for many iPhone users in their daily lives.
Safari will automatically name your tab groups
For those who use Tab Groups in Safari and have been frustrated by unnamed groups filled with random tabs, this feature will be appreciated. iOS 27 is said to include a functionality that automatically names a Tab Group based on the content currently open inside it. This type of low-friction AI assistance enhances the overall user experience.
What remains uncertain
It's important to note that all of this is based on code snippets rather than an official announcement. The features could function differently when implemented, may be postponed until a later update, or might be excluded before launch. Nevertheless, Apple is known to be developing a more advanced version of Siri for iOS 27 that includes deeper system-wide integration, and these features align well with that direction.
Apple is set to showcase iOS 27 at WWDC in June, with a public release anticipated in September alongside the new iPhone models. We will have much more information at that time.

Apple won’t be putting a 200MP camera in your iPhone anytime soon
Apple's 200MP telephoto camera has been tested, but won’t arrive until 2028
If you were expecting a significant camera upgrade in the next iPhone, you might have to wait longer. According to well-known Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station, Apple has tested a 200MP periscope telephoto camera for the iPhone. However, actual implementation is still a few years away, with 2028 being the earliest realistic timeframe (via MacRumors). Apple has historically focused on optical flexibility and low-light performance rather than merely increasing raw resolution. For instance, the iPhone 18 Pro is anticipated to feature a 48MP main camera with a variable aperture, along with a 48MP telephoto camera that has a longer focal length and larger aperture.

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 8 foldable might disappoint with its battery situation
The foldable may bring minor changes elsewhere, but battery convenience could remain a challenge
Samsung's next flip-style foldable appears to be a conservative update, which is disappointing for those hoping the company would finally address one of the series' most obvious weaknesses. Recent leaks suggest that the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will continue with 25W wired charging, a familiar limitation that may make the device feel too safe for everyday use. This compromise has plagued the Flip series for years. While Samsung has successfully marketed the appeal of a compact foldable design, buyers have frequently had to accept several practical sacrifices in return, with battery convenience often at the forefront.
