All Gemini users can now utilize Notebook projects online for free.
Gemini Notebooks are now available for free and are compatible with NotebookLM too.
Google has just made one of the most beneficial features of Gemini accessible to everyone. The Notebooks feature, which was initially introduced to paid AI subscribers earlier this month, is now open to all free users on the web. If you're a regular Gemini user, this development is significant.
The Notebooks function within @GeminiApp is now accessible to free users on the web! You can access your personal, unshared notebooks directly in Gemini and utilize your chats with Gemini as references in both new or existing unshared notebooks. Please share your feedback with us! https://t.co/BT8B3gktPR— NotebookLM (@NotebookLM) April 17, 2026
What is the Notebooks feature in Gemini and what can it do for you?
Notebooks can be seen as a focused project workspace within Gemini. Instead of starting anew every time you open the app, you can save your conversations, files, and sources all in one place under a specific topic. Gemini uses everything stored in that notebook as context for your next question.
The feature can be found in a new Notebooks section in Gemini’s side panel, located between Gems and Chats. Any conversation held in Gemini can be saved to a notebook using the three-dot menu.

You can also provide custom instructions to modify the tone, format, and style of responses. If you wish for Gemini to respond without referencing your saved chats, there is an option to disable notebook memory completely.
What makes this particularly exciting is the integration with NotebookLM. The notebooks used in NotebookLM, Google’s separate research tool, are the same ones. Since both applications synchronize automatically, any source you add in one will immediately show up in the other. This allows you to research in Gemini and then utilize NotebookLM’s Video Overviews and Infographics features on the same content without any manual transfers.
How many sources can free Gemini users include in a notebook?
Google
Free users are allowed to add up to 50 sources per notebook. For those on a paid plan, the limits significantly increase: AI Plus subscribers can include 100 sources, Pro users can add 300, and Ultra subscribers can go up to 600. The feature currently supports the full toolkit of Gemini, including web search and other AI-driven functionalities.
At the moment, Notebooks is only available on the web. It has yet to become accessible on mobile or Mac applications, although wider availability is anticipated in the upcoming weeks.

AI is entering a significant moment in the Skynet debate within social media discussions.
While AI might pose an existential threat to the world, it will first become a trending topic on social media.
An increasing number of voices online are warning about the potential dangers of artificial intelligence—often referred to as “AI doom influencers” —which is influencing how the public and policymakers perceive the technology. According to a report by The Washington Post, these influencers, comprising researchers, tech leaders, and content creators, are increasingly emphasizing worst-case scenarios, from large-scale job losses to existential risks posed by advanced AI systems. Critics argue that some of this messaging leans toward alarmism, but the discussion is no longer just speculative. Real-world advancements in AI are starting to reflect some of these concerns, making it difficult to distinguish between hype and genuine risk.

The Motorola Moto Book 60 Pro is unexpectedly stylish, and its pricing just adds to its appeal.
Motorola isn't a brand I typically associate with a truly exceptional laptop. I would expect a sleek smartphone, sure. A foldable device with character? Absolutely. But a lightweight notebook that feels well-balanced in both design and value was a pleasant surprise. Nevertheless, the Moto Book 60 Pro stands out as one of the more understated impressive laptops in its category. Given the current chaos in the broader laptop market, Motorola's offering feels refreshing. It's capable, aesthetically pleasing, and remains accessible at a time when prices have become increasingly challenging elsewhere.
