Similarly, the Surface Laptop 13.8-inch has also jumped in price from $999 to $1,499, meaning both laptops now come with a $500 increase compared to their original prices.

      The price hikes are not confined to the high-end models. The Surface Pro 12-inch, which was introduced at $799 in 2025, is now priced at $1,049. Meanwhile, Microsoft's entry-level 13-inch Surface Laptop has increased from $899 to $1,149, and the 15-inch Surface Laptop is now priced at $1,599, compared to the previous $1,299. Even the less expensive Surface options have ventured into price ranges that were once reserved for the flagship models.

      Microsoft has explicitly linked these changes to the rising costs of memory and components, as the company is affected by the broader supply issues in the RAM market. While this rationale may be understandable, it does little to alleviate the shock of the new prices. Mid-range Surface devices now start above $1,000, and flagship models begin at $1,500. Consequently, it's not surprising that the $599 MacBook Neo is experiencing high demand.

Malwarebytes has recently identified a counterfeit Microsoft support site (microsoft-update.support) that claims to provide a cumulative update for Windows 24H2 but actually installs malware designed to steal passwords.

      The entire website is disguised as official, using appropriate KB-style references, and offers an 83MB MSI file named Windowsupdate1.0.0.msi, which appears quite legitimate even in its file properties.
