      Samsung has now launched its Pro Keyboard for the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra in the US and Europe, broadening its availability after the accessory initially debuted in Korea earlier this month.

      This new accessory aims to convert the brand's flagship tablet into a device closer to a laptop, featuring a large trackpad and a sturdier hinge design. However, the significant price tag takes center stage, with Samsung asking for $399.99 in the US and €389.90 in Europe for the Pro Keyboard, a considerable amount for what remains a keyboard case.

      High-quality construction, considerable weight, and premium pricing

      Samsung is clearly attempting to justify the high price with its choice of materials and finish. Unlike the majority of keyboard cases, the Pro Keyboard incorporates a robust aluminum casing, and its hinge is engineered to ensure stability for the tablet, allowing touchscreen use without wobble. It connects via metal pins located on the back of the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, eliminating the need for separate charging or Bluetooth pairing.

      The tablet and keyboard can be folded together like a laptop, making this accessory Samsung's most direct effort to turn the Tab S11 Ultra into a genuine laptop alternative. When combined with Samsung DeX, this premium accessory starts to make more sense. Additionally, the keyboard deck features a dedicated AI key and three customizable function keys that can launch user-selected applications.

      It’s not just pricey; it’s also heavy

      Another drawback is its weight. The Pro Keyboard alone weighs 1.4 pounds (approximately 0.64 kg). Therefore, when paired with the tablet, the total weight reaches 2.93 pounds (1.33 kg), roughly the same as most 14-inch laptops. This added weight can make the accessory feel somewhat cumbersome. While the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra with Pro Keyboard takes on a laptop-like appearance, it also inherits some of the same disadvantages, including its heft, without actually being a laptop.
