How to update your old Gmail username?
Google
I understand; your Gmail username from a decade ago probably seemed acceptable at that time. Back then, the internet was a different landscape, and choosing a quirky, silly, or random email ID didn’t seem particularly significant. Now, though, sharing that old username can feel uncomfortable. When someone inquires about why you still use it, your response may carry a sense of embarrassment or regret.
The good news is you can change it now. Gmail allows you to update your old username and choose something new, something that more accurately reflects the professional, mature, or simply cooler version of yourself that you’ve evolved into.
Step-by-step guide to changing it
To begin, launch the Gmail app on your mobile device or use the desktop version on your computer. Next, click or tap your profile picture and select Manage your Google Account from the drop-down menu. From there, navigate to the Personal Info section.
Once you arrive there, tap on your current email ID, then select the Google Account Email box. After that, just follow the on-screen instructions to change your old Gmail username to a new one. The process is simple and well-guided, so you shouldn't struggle to find your way.
A quick note: this feature is currently only available to users in the US. Google hasn’t indicated when it will be made available in other regions, so for now, it’s limited to that area.
Revamp your Gmail
Thank you, Google, for finally introducing this feature. I’m sure they recognize the challenge of clinging to an outdated username that no longer represents you or, worse, one that you regret sharing. This change is significant, and honestly, it only gets better from here.
The only drawback is that this useful update is presently restricted to US users. Here’s hoping it expands to other regions soon because, in all honesty, I am eager to give my Gmail ID the upgrade it deserves.

WhatsApp support for CarPlay is just around the corner
I’ve been a dedicated CarPlay user for years, so this update feels long overdue. WhatsApp is finally developing a dedicated app for CarPlay, and it’s about time. Until now, I could only see notifications appear on the dashboard, with no real interaction beyond that. The downside is, it’s still in the testing phase and currently only available to iOS beta users. So, while it’s on the way, we’re not quite there yet.

Social media limitations for minors are gaining traction in more countries
Children on social media already present a complicated situation. There are so many potential issues, and no parent wants to handle the consequences. What complicates matters further is the rising trend of parents creating and managing accounts for their children. Initially, it seems harmless and controlled. However, the internet doesn’t come with a safety lock. Regardless of how carefully an account is supervised, there’s no real way to prevent predators from being involved. That’s what transforms an otherwise "well-intentioned" situation into something more concerning.

Meta begins testing Instagram Plus subscription with exclusive features
Almost every social media app seems to be exploring subscriptions, and honestly, it’s getting a bit excessive. The latest instance comes from Meta, which is reportedly encouraging users to consider a service called Instagram Plus. A Reddit user recently mentioned that prompts for it are appearing even for users who are content with the free version. Personally, I’ve been on Instagram for years and haven’t seen this notification on my side yet. So, it’s not a comprehensive rollout, at least not for everyone. It appears that Meta is quietly testing this in select markets before a broader release. Nevertheless, the trend is evident. The free experience remains, but the real question is how long before it starts feeling like the limited version.
Instagram Plus sounds appealing, but what does it actually provide?
