WhatsApp has finally enabled iPhone users to operate two accounts on a single device.
One update, four enhancements: WhatsApp introduces dual accounts for iPhone, improved storage management, smooth cross-platform chat transfers, and integrated Meta AI tools.
WhatsApp has launched a significant update as of March 26, making me question why it took so long. There are four main improvements: better storage management, the ability to transfer chats across platforms, Meta AI tools, and, most notably, the feature allowing dual accounts on iPhone.

iPhone users can now leave their second phone behind
Indeed, it's about time. Apple users can now run two WhatsApp accounts concurrently on a single iPhone, doing away with the necessity of a second phone (whether another iPhone or an Android) to maintain a distinction between work and personal communications. This capability has been available on Android since 2023, for those who may be catching up.
With this functionality, a profile picture displayed in the tab bar indicates which account is currently in use (similar to profile pictures on Instagram). This familiar feature is quite convenient, as it helps prevent the awkwardness of sending a meme intended for a friend to your boss.
Next, WhatsApp addresses a common issue in media-heavy group chats: storage overload. Users can now search for and delete large files directly within any chat. To use this, tap on the chat name, choose Manage Storage, and remove files that are taking up too much space.
This feature is particularly useful, as it allows users to declutter without deleting the entire chat. It lets you remove only media (photos and videos), while keeping your text history available.

What happens to your chats when switching phones?
The answer: nothing is left behind. The enhanced chat transfer tool now allows conversations to be moved from iOS to Android, as well as between the same platform, bringing along messages, photos, and videos with just a few taps.
Finally, users can leverage Meta AI to edit photos before sending. This tool can help eliminate distractions, change backgrounds, and apply different styles. Additionally, a writing assistant can suggest replies based on the context of the conversation. Rest assured, the platform maintains that chats remain completely private.
