Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses could soon introduce new models known as Scriber and Blazer.
Meta is intensifying its focus on AI glasses with new Ray-Ban models.
Meta's advancement in AI wearables shows no signs of slowing down. A recent filing with the FCC has unveiled two forthcoming Ray-Ban smart glasses from Meta, referred to as "Scriber" and "Blazer." This indication suggests that the launch is imminent.
The filing also classifies these devices as production units, implying that Meta has moved beyond the prototype phase and is preparing for the release.
What can we anticipate next in Meta's smart eyewear collection?
The FCC database has confirmed two separate models: Ray-Ban Meta Scriber and Ray-Ban Meta Blazer. Notably, the Blazer variant may come in two sizes, including a larger option that hasn't been previously available in this lineup. Both models are expected to feature a portable charging case, following the design trend of earlier generations.
It’s not just about a new design.
While specific details remain scarce, there are indications of significant enhancements. The new models are identified with model numbers RW7001 and RW7002, representing a notable progression from previous versions, which could suggest substantial internal improvements. This might encompass a newer chipset and support for WiFi 6 UNII-4 band, which enhances data speeds, connectivity reliability, and capabilities for livestreaming and real-time AI processing.
This could signify more than just a small product update. Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses have already experienced remarkable growth, selling millions of units and significantly increasing production targets. Concurrently, the company is shifting its attention from VR to wearables.
However, many details about the Scriber and Blazer remain unknown, including final design, camera specifications, and features (such as AI). Based on their names, these may be non-display AI glasses rather than devices focused entirely on AI.
