SpaceX might be looking into a Starlink phone, although Elon Musk claims otherwise.

      SpaceX is said to be preparing for a potential major advancement: a satellite-linked mobile device branded under Starlink. Sources familiar with the company's strategy indicate that it is looking into the possibility of creating a phone that connects directly to its Starlink satellite network, which could significantly broaden its connectivity initiatives beyond the existing broadband market.

      According to Reuters, SpaceX is considering a mobile device that connects straight to Starlink's network. The details regarding design or timeline are still vague, but CEO Elon Musk has indicated that such a device is "not out of the question at some point" and would be "very different" from existing smartphones, specifically designed for high-performance AI processing.

      Starlink has already worked on providing its service to mobile phones through collaborations like its partnership with T-Mobile, but creating a dedicated Starlink phone would represent a considerable advancement.

      The report mentions that SpaceX applied to trademark “Starlink Mobile” last October and, earlier this year, filed patents for “technologies aimed at enhancing Starlink’s capacity to connect with small, mobile devices on land that are more than just Starlink user terminals,” supporting the speculation.

      Musk refutes Starlink phone plans

      Despite Musk's earlier hints about the possibility of a Starlink phone in the future, he has contradicted the recent report on social media.

      In response to posts on X discussing the story, he stated, “We are not developing a phone,” calling the report a lie in a separate tweet.

      Currently, SpaceX has yet to make any official announcements, leaving the prospect of a Starlink phone unverified. The company is prioritizing the expansion of its satellite network and broadband services, which already cater to millions of users globally. A mobile device could potentially open up a new market and attract more users, but the likelihood of such a product being launched remains uncertain.
