Microsoft is eliminating one of the top features of Edge.

The organizing feature in Edge that users appreciated is being discontinued.

Microsoft is quietly discontinuing one of Edge's most valued features, which is disappointing for those who utilized it to stay organized online. Collections, the integrated tool that allows users to save, group, and revisit webpages in a visually appealing manner, is officially being phased out.

Edge has begun displaying a notification advising users to move or export their Collections prior to the feature's removal, an indication that its days are numbered. Launched with the Chromium-based Edge in 2020, Collections enable users to save webpages, images, and notes into organized cards that synchronize across devices.

This tool was useful for research, creating shopping lists, planning trips, or simply tracking articles to read later. Its visual and flexible interface made it surprisingly robust, which is why many users became fond of it.

What changes to expect and actions to take now

According to a warning noted by Windows Latest in Edge’s Dev channel, Collections will be removed in an upcoming update, although Microsoft has not provided a specific timeline. When it happens, users will have two methods to save their data.

One option is to transfer Collections into Favorites, resulting in a folder titled “CollectionsExport,” which retains links but omits images and notes. The second option is to export all data as a CSV file to the Documents folder, which serves as a backup but isn't particularly helpful for daily browsing.

It remains uncertain whether Collections will also be eliminated from Edge on mobile devices. Microsoft hasn't clarified the reasons for discontinuing Collections, but this decision aligns with a trend.

The company is scrapping applications like Microsoft Lens on mobile and ceasing support for the lighter version of Windows 11 SE for educational use, even as it subtly implements quality-of-life improvements in applications like Word by making hyperlinking faster and more efficient.

If you utilize Collections, now is the time to access Edge and export your data. Once it's gone, there will be no built-in alternative, which is a significant loss for those who preferred their browser to do more than simply load pages.

Google Eliminates AI Health Summaries Following Risky Medical Mistakes Uncovered

When Google’s AI provides the wrong information.

We’ve all experienced it: feeling an odd pain or receiving an unclear medical test result, prompting an immediate search on Google. You’re not looking for a medical degree, merely wanting a quick answer to whether you’re alright. Recently, however, Google had to halt its AI search summaries as asking a machine for medical guidance can be potentially harmful.

Google quietly removed several AI-generated health summaries from its search results after an investigation revealed they were dispensing inaccurate and, frankly, alarming information. This situation arose after The Guardian reported that these "AI Overviews"—the colorful boxes that appear at the top of search results—were providing incomplete data.

Apple is banking on its AI future with Gemini. Here’s how it can transform the iPhone for you.

Gemini's AI integration, a private approach to AI processing, alongside Apple’s creative endeavors, sounds promising for the iPhone.

One of the most significant announcements in the tech community—between two of the largest tech firms globally—was succinctly summarized in a joint statement of fewer than one hundred words. Apple revealed that Gemini will be the engine behind the revitalization of Siri and the framework powering AI software experiences on iPhones and Macs.

"These models will help drive future Apple Intelligence features, including a more personalized Siri coming this year," the company stated. This is a substantial victory for Google, fantastic news for Apple device users, and an implicit acknowledgment that Apple has struggled to lead the AI race like Google, Meta, or OpenAI.

Apple has confirmed that Siri’s significant AI overhaul will be fueled by Google’s Gemini.

Apple collaborates with Google to enhance Siri and keep pace in the AI competition.

Previous reports indicated that Apple was exploring a partnership with Google to improve Siri's AI functionalities. This is now official. Apple has confirmed that Google's Gemini will power the next-generation version of Siri, representing one of the most notable updates to the voice assistant since its inception.

Apple affirmed the partnership in a statement to CNBC, noting that it selected Google after considering several options. "After thorough evaluation, we determined that Google’s technology offers the most capable foundation for Apple Foundation Models, and we’re enthusiastic about the innovative new experiences it will provide for our users," the company said.
