The laptops boast a distinctive trackpad that can also serve as a drawing surface.

Lenovo may have addressed one of the significant portability challenges for creatives dependent on drawing tablets. At CES, the company unveiled a new series of Yoga laptops, including two models featuring a trackpad that functions as a drawing surface.

Rather than a conventional trackpad, the innovative Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition and Yoga Pro 7i Aura Edition come equipped with what Lenovo refers to as a Force Pad. This glass surface is designed to work both as a standard trackpad and a compact pen tablet when used with the included Yoga Pen Gen 2.

Lenovo has indicated that this latest solution is powered by Wacom, a leading name in the pen tablet industry. The company claims it allows for more accurate sketching, annotation, and design work directly on the laptop, enabling creatives to leave their pen tablets behind while on the move.

The Force Pad is designed to automatically disable touch input when the pen is in use to avoid accidental gestures, ensuring a smooth experience. For those who require a larger drawing area, both Lenovo laptops are also equipped with touch displays compatible with the Yoga Pen Gen 2.

The Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition can be configured with a maximum 16-inch 3.2K Tandem OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and touch capability, while the Yoga Pro 7i features a 15.3-inch OLED panel with a 165Hz refresh rate and optional touch input. Both models provide excellent color precision, covering 100% of the sRGB, DCI-P3, and Adobe RGB color gamuts, achieving a Delta E of less than 1.

Distinct features supported by robust hardware

Internally, the laptops can be outfitted with up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 386H Panther Lake processor, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 laptop GPU, as much as 64GB of RAM, and up to 2TB of storage. Additional features include Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 connectivity, a variety of I/O ports, and multi-channel stereo speakers, all contained within a sleek chassis.

The Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i is anticipated to start at $1,899 and is projected to be available in the second quarter of 2026, while the Yoga Pro 7i is expected to begin around $1,799 with a similar availability timeline. Lenovo has yet to confirm the specifics of all available SKUs, with more details likely to emerge closer to the launch date.
