Ultra-light Aerominum chassis featuring RTX power and dual AI
LG has just unveiled its Gram lineup for 2026, and the highlight is the weight of the new models. These latest Gram laptops push the concept of ultra-portability by utilizing a newly engineered material called Aerominum, which results in an exceptionally light yet durable chassis.
This material also offers enhanced scratch resistance and complies with rigorous military-grade standards for toughness. As a result, LG claims this is the lightest 17-inch laptop in the world that includes dedicated RTX graphics, a statement that is sure to attract those who dislike carrying heavy equipment.
What’s new with the 2026 Gram laptops?
LG
The new Gram series will be featured at CES 2026 and continues LG’s legacy of producing ultra-light notebooks. The lineup consists of the LG Gram Pro 17 and LG Gram Pro 16, each with unique features.
The 17-inch model is notable for incorporating a large 2560 x 1600 LCD display, 8GB of GDDR7 memory, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5050 laptop GPU into a frame that feels similar in size to many 16-inch laptops.
According to LG, this device delivers “sufficient performance for graphics-heavy tasks, content creation, and gaming.” However, it may not meet the needs of serious gamers and is likely better suited for entry-level to mid-range gaming at 1080p. Additionally, this model will only be sold in North America.
The 16-inch Pro version sets a new standard as the lightest 16-inch system to offer both on-device and cloud-based AI support. It features a 2880 x 1800 OLED screen and operates on Intel’s latest Core Ultra processors, making it efficient for everyday multitasking, editing, streaming, and more intensive tasks.

The 16-inch Gram Pro also introduces what LG refers to as dual AI functionality. This capability allows the laptop to run specific AI features directly through its hardware while also utilizing cloud-based AI services when an internet connection is available.
Pricing and availability details are yet to be provided by LG, but the company is preparing for a comprehensive announcement at CES next week.
As CES 2026 approaches, LG is expected to make headlines not just with laptops but also with other innovations. The company is already hinting at potential trends in TVs for 2026, including plans to launch a 27-inch 4K OLED RGB stripe panel and a premium OLED TV that may rival mini LED in peak brightness. Collectively, these developments indicate that CES 2026 will be a significant event for LG in the realms of displays, TVs, and computing.

WhatsApp update for early adopters introduces more precise control over storage cleanup
A new beta version of WhatsApp for iOS has rolled out selective chat cleanup tools that enable users to delete large media files without having to erase entire conversations.
If you’ve checked your iPhone storage only to discover that WhatsApp occupies several gigabytes, the platform is now testing a more efficient method for cleaning up chats and reclaiming space.
As reported by WABetaInfo, the Meta-owned instant messaging service is introducing a feature called the "Advanced chat clearing tool," allowing users to delete selected items, such as starred messages or media files, effortlessly, while also estimating how much storage will be freed.
The volume of AI clutter and mindless videos on YouTube will astonish you
According to a new study by Kapwing, a significant number of videos circulating on YouTube comprise low-quality, AI-generated content, labeled as brainrot and 'AI slop'—a catch-all term for content aimed at gaining views rather than providing substantial value.
Kapwing’s researchers validated this by creating a new YouTube account and monitoring the first 500 videos recommended by the platform. Of these, 104 videos, about 21%, were deemed AI slop, while 165 videos, approximately 33%, fell under the broader “brainrot” category.
This new method can create AI videos in just a few seconds
Researchers have introduced a new technique for generating AI videos called TurboDiffusion, capable of producing synthetic videos at near-instantaneous speeds. It can generate AI video up to 200 times faster than current methods, without compromising visual quality.
This initiative is a collaboration between ShengShu Technology, Tsinghua University, and researchers from the University of California, Berkeley. Its developers assert that the system is intended to significantly reduce the time required to produce video, a process that has traditionally been both slow and computationally demanding.
