The latest Samsung Health update introduces enhanced snoring detection capabilities for your Galaxy Watch.
No more uncertainty about whether it was you or the ceiling fan snoring last night.
Samsung’s Galaxy Watch series provides a variety of health and fitness monitoring features. Beyond tracking essentials like step count, heart rate, and blood oxygen levels, the watches are also capable of monitoring your sleep. Sleep tracking encompasses more than just the duration of sleep.
The Samsung Health app allows you to analyze different sleep stages and even detect snoring. However, the snoring detection feature has faced reliability issues, with numerous users experiencing inaccurate recordings or failures to function altogether. Fortunately, Samsung seems to have rectified this in the newest Samsung Health update.
Reportedly, Samsung has enhanced the snoring detection algorithm in version 6.31 of the app (according to SamMobile), promising to deliver more accurate snoring detection. Although the release notes do not clarify how the updated algorithm enhances performance, they do mention one significant limitation.
A screenshot shared by tipster @theonecid on X reveals that after installing the latest Samsung Health update, users will no longer have access to previous snoring recordings. This update resets the data, meaning that only the snoring history from the earlier version will be displayed in the app. However, snoring recorded after the update will play back normally.
To update Samsung Health, users should navigate to the Galaxy Store on their devices, click on the hamburger menu icon in the top-left corner, select Updates, and then hit the update button next to Samsung Health. Snoring detection is compatible with Galaxy Watch 8 and older models dating back to the Galaxy Watch 4, and requires the paired Galaxy phone to be connected to a charger to operate.
If you've encountered difficulties with snoring detection on your Galaxy Watch, consider installing the update to see if the enhanced algorithm improves its accuracy.

This new smartwatch allows you to manage calls using muscle gestures.
Xiaomi Watch 5 introduces EMG-driven gesture navigation to HyperOS 3, aiming for quicker one-handed control without the need for screen taps.
Xiaomi is presenting a novel concept for smartwatch interaction with the Xiaomi Watch 5, which does not rely on typical screen shortcuts. The gesture control system in the Xiaomi Watch 5 utilizes an EMG sensor to detect electrical impulses in your wrist muscles and convert them into commands.
According to Xiaomi, this method is more precise than motion-based gestures that depend on accelerometers, as it can detect subtle muscle movements even when your arm is relatively still. The watch is currently available for purchase in China, with Xiaomi anticipating a global launch at MWC 2026 in Barcelona.
