JD.com and Unitree Robotics are set to launch their first joint offline experience store in Beijing tomorrow. This store represents a transition for consumer robots from being largely displayed online to offering hands-on experiences in person, enabling customers to see, interact with, and purchase products directly at the location. This approach aims to facilitate faster adoption by reducing barriers to personal engagement with the technology.
The new outlet goes beyond a conventional retail model by encompassing the entire process from experience to purchase, including after-sales service. Shoppers can place orders in-store or scan product QR codes to access JD.com’s mini program, offering choices for in-store pickup or delivery through JD Logistics.
Details: Situated in JD MALL in Beijing’s Chaoyang district, the store will feature a variety of Unitree products, such as the Go2 quadruped robotic dog and the G1 humanoid robot. Unitree Robotics had already introduced its products on JD.com’s e-commerce platform, and the opening of this offline store is anticipated to enhance the brand's visibility.
The G1 humanoid robot, which has previously performed at a Wang Leehom concert, can perform intricate movements including dance routines, martial arts, and boxing. Meanwhile, the Go2 quadruped robot is outfitted with features such as following, obstacle avoidance, handshaking, and backflips, designed for interactive demonstrations.
Additionally, the store includes a hands-on experience area where visitors can operate the robots in simulated situations such as home cleaning, elderly care, and educational assistance, providing a practical perspective on the potential applications of these technologies in everyday life.
JD.com also offers services like rapid delivery, expert setup assistance, and after-sales maintenance, along with a robot rental option aimed at making it easier for first-time users to engage with the technology.
Context: In August, during the 2025 World Robot Conference, JD.com served as the event’s exclusive global strategic partner, collaborating with Chinese robotics firms like Unitree Robotics, AgiBot, Tiangong, Zhongqing Robotics, and Noetix Robotics. At the event, they unveiled their “Intelligent Robotics Industry Acceleration Plan.”
According to the plan, JD.com intends to invest over 10 billion yuan ($1.4 billion) in the next three years to support 100 intelligent robotics brands in achieving transaction volumes exceeding 1 billion yuan ($140 million) each.
This initiative is designed to expedite the advancement of the intelligent robotics industry, promote practical use cases, and address challenges such as slow commercialization and obstacles to large-scale deployment.
