      The image editing capabilities on Galaxy phones are set to undergo a significant enhancement with One UI 8.5.

      Samsung has recently launched the One UI 8.5 beta program for the Galaxy S25 series, showcasing some of the new features included in the update. Although other Galaxy devices have yet to receive beta versions, a leaked One UI 8.5 build for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has unveiled a new Galaxy AI feature that could greatly enhance the image editing process on Galaxy smartphones.

      As reported by SamMobile, this feature introduces prompt-based image editing within the standard Gallery app. Users can access this option by tapping a Galaxy AI button in the app and utilizing the text field in the Photo Assist section to specify desired changes. This functionality will reportedly enable users to add, modify, or remove elements within an image and, more importantly, allow them to transfer elements from one image to another.

      With Galaxy AI in One UI 8.5, users will be able to integrate aspects from one photo into another.

      A tutorial from Samsung’s Tips app indicates that the new editing feature enables users to select a picture from the Gallery app and instruct Galaxy AI to extract a detail from that image and incorporate it into the photo they are currently editing. Users will also have the ability to specify how the element is added to achieve the desired effect.

      SamMobile notes that the feature is non-functional in the leaked One UI 8.5 version and is not present in the beta build that has recently been rolled out for the Galaxy S25 series. Consequently, it is currently unclear how effective Samsung’s new generative editing features truly are. We anticipate further information and the opportunity to test the feature in a future One UI 8.5 beta release or when the stable version is launched alongside the Galaxy S26 series early next year.
