Google's Pixel 10a is approaching its launch, but don't anticipate significant improvements.

A new carrier certification suggests that Google's upcoming budget Pixel may offer more refinement than major changes.

      Pixel 10a

According to recent information from tipster @evleaks, the Pixel 10a, a new addition to Google's Pixel 10 series, appears to be on the horizon. A leaked image of the phone's Verizon certification provides insights into its specifications. The Pixel 10a is expected to have a 6.285-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, which may be marketed as a 6.3-inch screen. It will feature a refresh rate of 60/120Hz.

The certification also reveals information about the Pixel 10a’s cameras. This affordable Pixel model could include a 48MP (f/1.7) main camera, a 13MP (f/2.2) ultrawide camera, and a 13MP (f/2.2) front-facing camera. Based on these megapixel counts and aperture sizes, the Pixel 10a may utilize the camera system found in the Pixel 9a.

The version that has received Verizon certification is equipped with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, likely representing the base model of the Pixel 10a, as the Pixel 9a offers storage options up to 256GB. Additionally, the device might come with a battery capacity of 5,100 mAh, akin to that of the Pixel 9a. If this is accurate, the expected Pixel 10a may support wired charging at 23W and wireless charging at 7.5W.

The supported network technologies for the device include 5G NR SA, 5G NR NSA, LTE (Cat 19), and global bands. While these details don't encompass the entire specifications of the smartphone, they provide an idea of what to expect from Google’s forthcoming A-series device.

According to earlier leaks, the Pixel 10a may also inherit the Pixel 9a’s chipset, the Tensor G4 (4nm), which could be disappointing for users anticipating a performance enhancement. Typically, smartphones undergo carrier certifications during the later stages of development, nearing their finalization.

This year, Google introduced the Pixel 9a in March, and the Pixel 10a could also launch around the same time next year. However, there is a slight chance that Google may move the launch date up by a few weeks or days. Regardless, a new Pixel A-series smartphone is expected to arrive in the United States within a couple of months.
