YouTube's latest Recap feature transforms your viewing history into a representation of your personality.
A fun new feature that transforms your viewing habits into a shareable identity
What’s new? YouTube has introduced its inaugural “Recap” feature for 2025, offering users a personalized overview of their viewing history from the past year. It resembles your own highlight reel, showcasing your favorite channels, evolving interests, and even categorizing you into a “viewer personality type.”
If you subscribe to YouTube Music, your annual Recap may include additional highlights with your top artists, songs, podcast listening habits, and locations from which you listened internationally.
This feature is currently available for users in the U.S., with a global rollout planned for the upcoming days. You can find it through the “You” tab or by clicking on a banner on the homepage.
Why does it matter? YouTube Recap is akin to how leading music streaming platforms present personal listening summaries, such as Spotify’s Wrapped or Amazon Music’s Delivered.
YouTube Recap offers up to 12 interactive cards, each summarizing different aspects of your activity, such as favorite creators, most-watched channels, frequently viewed topics, viewing streaks, and how your interests have evolved.
Based on your viewing patterns, YouTube categorizes you with a “viewer personality” like Adventurer, Skill Builder, Creative Spirit, or Sunshiner, similar to how music apps label listening behaviors.
Recap goes beyond mere statistics; it identifies trends in your viewing habits, such as sudden increases in cooking content or periods where you explored music, podcasts, and creators from various parts of the world.
Why should I be interested? According to YouTube, Recap was developed after months of user feedback and various design experiments, revealing not just what you watched, but also your identity as a viewer.
For those who spend considerable time on YouTube, Recap transforms random scrolling, deep dives, and guilty pleasure moments into an insightful summary.
It’s a fun opportunity to reflect on your year, observe what types of videos you engaged with, notice shifts in your interests, or simply revisit the creators that captivated you.
YouTube Recap results can also be shared on social media to showcase your “viewer personality” or to support your favorite channels.

The viral Haribo power bank you carry could pose a fire risk
Battery misalignment and structural flaws raise concerns for engineers.
What’s the update? A power bank that became popular has transitioned from a backpack favorite to a possible safety risk. An analysis by Lumafield indicates that the widely sold Haribo 20,000 mAh power bank (and its earphones) contains significant internal battery issues, likely leading to its removal from online retailers. The scans showed that the battery cells were misaligned, with electrodes either folded or distorted rather than laid flat.

Your Android hotspot is set to become significantly faster
Pixel users experience quicker hotspots as Android tests a new 2.4GHz + 6GHz mode.
Typically, users are limited to the congested 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands for hotspots, which are adequate but not very fast. Now, Google is enabling the 6GHz band - the high-speed lane utilized by Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 - for Android hotspots. Pixel users can already find this feature hidden in the settings (Settings > Network & internet > Hotspot & tethering). However, here’s the downside: while 6GHz provides incredible speed, it struggles with walls and has a shorter range. Additionally, your older laptop or tablet may not even support it.
