There has been limited information regarding the casting for Street Fighter, Legendary Entertainment's forthcoming live-action film inspired by Capcom's famous video game series. Following various speculations, the cast for Street Fighter is starting to form.
According to Deadline, Jason Momoa, Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, and Roman Reigns are in discussions to star in Street Fighter, although contracts have yet to be finalized.
Legendary has kept the storyline of Street Fighter confidential. Initially, Talk to Me directors Danny and Michael Philippou were set to direct but withdrew due to scheduling issues with their upcoming film, Bring Her Back.
Kitao Sakurai was brought on board to direct in February. He is known for his work on The Eric Andre Show, Aardvark, Bad Trip, and Beef.
Street Fighter was launched as an arcade game in 1987. This Capcom creation is a competitive fighting game where participants compete in a worldwide martial arts tournament. The franchise has introduced iconic video game characters such as Ryu, Ken Masters, M. Bison, and Guile. It ranks among the highest-grossing video game franchises ever, with over 55 million units sold globally.
Universal Pictures
Prior to Legendary's live-action version, Universal Pictures produced a feature film adaptation of the game in 1994. Directed by Steven E. de Souza, Street Fighter featured Jean-Claude Van Damme as Colonel William F. Guile, Ming-Na Wen as Chun-Li Zang, Damian Chapa as Ken Masters, Kylie Minogue as Lieutenant Cammy White, Raúl Juliá as General M. Bison, and Wes Studi as Viktor Sagat. Despite receiving mixed reviews, Street Fighter earned over $99 million on a $35 million budget and eventually gained a cult following.
All four actors bring experience from action films and television. Momoa is known for his role as Aquaman in the DCEU and is set to portray Lobo in James Gunn’s DC Universe. Koji led the underrated series Warrior, inspired by a concept from the legendary Bruce Lee.
Centineo, who recently appeared in Warfare, played Owen Hendricks in Netflix’s espionage series The Recruit. Reigns was featured in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw but is best recognized as one of the most celebrated wrestlers and world champions in WWE history.
Street Fighter was originally slated for a March 2026 release before Sony and Legendary removed the film from their schedule.
