      How to Play Strands

      Each Strands puzzle begins with the objective of discovering the “theme words” concealed within the letter grid. You can manipulate the letters by dragging or tapping to form words; double-tap the last letter to confirm your selection. If you uncover the correct word, the letters will turn blue and become unselectable.

      If you identify a word that isn't a theme word, it can still be beneficial! For every three non-theme words you discover that are four letters or longer, you’ll earn a hint — one letter from a theme word will be disclosed, and you only need to unscramble it.

      Every letter in the grid is utilized to form the theme words without any overlap. Each letter will be used one time only.

      The puzzle also includes one “spangram,” a special theme word (or words) that signify the puzzle’s theme and spans two opposite edges of the board. Finding the spangram will result in it being highlighted in yellow.
