NYT Strands today: clues, spangram, and solutions for Wednesday, May 14.
Strands is an exciting new daily puzzle from the New York Times. This twist on the classic word search requires a sharp eye to solve. Similar to Wordle, Connections, and the Mini Crossword, some days Strands can prove challenging. There's no embarrassment in seeking a little assistance now and then. If you’re having trouble and need the solutions for today’s Strands puzzle, you can find the answers listed below.
How to play Strands
In each Strands puzzle, your objective is to uncover the “theme words” concealed within a grid of letters. You can manipulate the letters by dragging or tapping to form words; double-tap the last letter to confirm your selection. Correct words will be highlighted in blue and can’t be selected again.
Even if you identify a word that's not a theme word, it’s still beneficial! For every three non-theme words you discover that are at least four letters long, you’ll receive a hint — one of the theme word’s letters will be revealed, and you’ll need to unscramble it.
Every letter in the grid contributes to spelling the theme words with no repetition. Each letter will be used only once.
Each puzzle features one “spangram,” which is a specific theme word (or words) that defines the puzzle’s theme and spans two opposite sides of the board. Finding the spangram will highlight it in yellow.
The aim is to complete the puzzle swiftly without relying too heavily on hints.
