AMD’s Zen 5 architecture has gained popularity among gamers due to its exceptional performance and 3D V-Cache feature. A recent leak indicates that Zen 7 may enhance this with a new “3D Core.” YouTuber Moore’s Law is Dead stated that “[AMD] is progressing toward various official variants.”
Reports suggest that AMD intends to introduce a unified architecture, segmented into various product categories, which will include the anticipated series: Classic Cores, Dense Cores, Efficiency Cores, and Low-Power Cores. The addition of the 3D Core is notable as it purportedly “requires complete cache chiplets” that “appear to lead to significant performance improvements.”
It’s important to note that this is still two generations away. Zen 7 is not expected to launch until 2027 or 2028, as Zen 6 has yet to be released. This means an upgrade for your system may take a while, but when it occurs, it could provide a substantial performance leap. Moore’s Law is Dead suggests that each Zen 7 3D Core will feature its own cache chiplet, rather than a single chiplet for the entire unit.
Details about the Zen 7 chip were discussed starting at 52:48.
The YouTuber did not provide extensive information on the architecture, but mentioned he is in the process of verifying details and preparing for a more comprehensive reveal. He also noted that AMD will continue utilizing the latest fabrication node.
However, it's essential to approach this information with caution, as much of it remains speculative. Leaks regarding hardware, especially for components that are years away, can often be inaccurate. If these rumors hold true, AMD could potentially lead the gaming hardware market for an extended period, but prices for these chips are anticipated to be higher than current models like the Ryzen 7 or Ryzen 9.

Be cautious—there are counterfeit AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPUs on Amazon.
Purchasing one of the top processors from a retailer like Amazon might seem reliable, but that assumption isn’t always correct. A hardware reviewer recently bought an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU on Amazon, only to discover it was fake. While the packaging appeared authentic, the internal hardware bore no resemblance to the powerful CPU expected. Currently, fake listings for this CPU can be found on Amazon.
The unfortunate buyer, Crmaris from HWBusters, needed an additional Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU for testing and ordered one from Amazon Germany. The reviewer stated that the CPU was sold directly by Amazon and was advertised as brand new, suggesting it would arrive in prime condition.
AMD is enhancing gaming performance with new X3D CPUs, which are almost available.
If you’re looking to upgrade your gaming setup, you won’t have to wait much longer. AMD announced that the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9 9900X3D will be available on March 12 at prices of $699 and $599, respectively. Initially introduced at CES 2025, these processors promise significant performance enhancements for gamers seeking optimal frame rates and visuals.
AMD has branded the Ryzen 9 9950X3D as the "ultimate 16-core desktop CPU." While this might be somewhat exaggerated, it is undeniably a powerful piece of hardware. With 16 cores, it boasts 32 threads, a base clock speed of 4.3GHz that can boost to 5.7GHz, and features a 144MB cache, consuming a relatively high TDP of 170W.
AMD’s RX 9070 XT may soon increase in price significantly.
Following the situation with Nvidia's RTX 50-series, which was criticized as a "paper launch," many felt reassured when AMD’s RX 9000 series became available in better quantities. However, once this initial stock is exhausted, AMD could face the same pricing challenges as other leading graphics cards, with prices expected to rise.
The cards officially launched recently, yet many were seen priced well above the recommended MSRP, with some overclocked models costing as much as $250 over the $600 starting price. Nonetheless, AMD has repeatedly stated that they are collaborating with partners to maintain availability at MSRP, and indeed, various retailers had some models listed. Unfortunately, those MSRP options seem to have been short-lived and may not return, according to retailers.
