Nothing and Kef are collaborating to create high-quality audio products.
Technology brand Nothing has announced a collaboration with audio experts Kef and indicated that they are already developing products together. While Nothing is currently recognized for its smartphones, its initial product was the Nothing Ear 1 earbuds, and it has been expanding its product line ever since.

Nothing has larger aspirations in the audio space and aims to realize plans for entering new audio categories with Kef. Kef has been producing audio equipment for over six decades. Andrew Freshwater, Nothing’s head of smart products, stated:
“By merging Kef’s extensive experience with our design-focused technology approach, we’re establishing the foundation for a new benchmark in everyday listening. Our products debuting later this year signify the start of an exciting new phase in our partnership and the future of Nothing Audio.”
In a related note, Kef’s Grace Lo, head of global marketing, remarked:
“This collaboration enables us to infuse our acoustic legacy into a new context, partnering with a brand that aligns with our commitment to innovation, quality, and design. Together, we aim to redefine the appearance and experience of premium audio for the next generation.”

There are no specific details yet on the products that Nothing and Kef are working on together, aside from the press release mentioning that “several acoustically co-developed products” are underway, with more information expected in the coming months. Nothing’s most recent audio releases included the Nothing Ear (a) in April 2024, along with a new series of earbuds in its CMF by Nothing line in April 2025.
It’s plausible that Nothing and Kef may collaborate on future smartphone launches, enhancing the speakers and overall audio quality. Asus and Dirac have demonstrated that excellent sound can come from smartphones with the ROG Phone 9 Pro, but few others have fully harnessed mobile audio in this way, leaving an opportunity for Nothing and Kef beyond their planned new audio products.

Nothing might impose a fee for utilizing the AI feature on its upcoming phones.
Nothing's latest smartphones, the Phone 3a and Phone 3a Pro, include the company's AI-powered dashboard, named Essential Space. This feature allows users to organize screenshots, images, voice notes, and reminders and is activated via a dedicated button called the Essential Key. While these services are currently available for free, Nothing may introduce a subscription model for future access.
Nothing intends to develop Essential Space into an AI-driven second brain solution for storing items that may otherwise be hard to remember. Though it is still in beta, the presence of a dedicated activation button suggests that Nothing is serious about making it a key feature in future phones.

YouTube’s forthcoming audio settings is a reason to upgrade to Premium.
If you use YouTube for discovering and listening to music, you may soon enjoy improved audio quality. YouTube is getting ready to introduce updated audio settings that will offer options for high-definition audio playback.
Currently, YouTube's maximum audio bitrate is 128kbps with a 48KHz sample rate, which is similar to CD-quality MP3 music. Android Authority found references to three audio settings—Auto, Normal, and High—in the source code of the YouTube beta app for Android. While the Normal setting likely matches the current bitrate, the High option is expected to enable higher bitrates and sample rates—presumably 256kbps and 96 or 192KHz, though specific values are yet to be confirmed. Meanwhile, the Auto setting will select the appropriate option based on your network connection.
