Helldivers 2 now allows players to personalize their preferred weapons.
Sony Interactive Entertainment
Helldivers 2 has received a surprising update that includes new weapon customizations and additional enemy types, just as the Illuminate emerge from a black hole with intentions aimed at Super Earth. “In an abrupt and entirely unprovoked strike, they appeared. Nothing is secure, not even the very core of democracy,” proclaims the announcer with exaggerated gravitas. “Liberty’s darkest hour draws near. Super Earth requires your assistance.”
The update comes packed with the signature humor that Helldivers 2 is known for, while also adding new enemy types from the Illuminate, such as the jetfighter-like Stingray and the Crescent Overseer, a foe capable of launching attacks from behind cover. Another new enemy is the Fleshmob, characterized as “a Frankenstein's monster of Voteless parts” and reminiscent of the Flood Carriers from Halo. The PlayStation Blog hints at other, yet-to-be-revealed enemies.
Players can now also customize their weapons in Helldivers. Most primary weapons have levels that can be increased through completing particular missions, and players can unlock various attachments that adjust aspects like handling and ammo capacity. This update allows players to tailor their preferred weapon to their playstyle by modifying statistics such as recoil and reload time. Additionally, there are new skins available for each weapon.
The Superstore in Helldivers 2 is also receiving an upgrade. There’s no longer a need to wait for items to cycle back in; you can now browse the entire item library and buy what you want using Super Credits, the game’s premium currency (which is also obtainable in missions, so you don't have to spend real money).
Lastly, the update introduces new patterns for the Fast Recon Vehicle in several existing Warbonds, including Viper Commandos, Freedom’s Flame, Chemical Agents, and Truth Enforcers. These patterns will unlock on May 15, coinciding with the launch of the new Masters of Ceremony Warbond.

Helldivers 2 sends players back to its most brutal battleground.
Helldivers, prepare yourselves: the moment has come to return to Malevelon Creek and repel the Automaton invaders once again. Following last week’s failure to halt the advance of the robotic forces in the Severin Sector, many players feared that Malevelon Creek would become the ultimate objective. Now, the Helldivers 2 team has officially confirmed this.
If you've been engaged with the game for a while, you may remember the battle for a planet often referred to as "Space Vietnam." The Creek, as some players dubbed it, featured some of the most challenging missions in the game and was among the first Major Orders that failed with severe ramifications. This period marked extensive Automaton control in the region and has become a significant element in the evolving narrative of Helldivers 2.
