The Long Walk (2025) Official Trailer - Cooper Hoffman, David Jonsson
Stephen King is renowned as a master of horror, particularly in crafting psychological narratives. In The Long Walk, participants face a grim choice: walk or face death. It’s a straightforward concept, but the stakes are fatal.
Lionsgate has unveiled the official trailer for The Long Walk, a dystopian thriller adapted from King’s 1979 novel of the same name. The storyline centers around a walking competition involving 100 men. Contestants must maintain a pace of at least three miles per hour; dropping below this speed leads to disqualification.
The suspenseful trailer hints at the dire consequences of failing to meet the speed requirement. One contestant receives three warnings before being shot in the head by a soldier.
It’s a last-man-standing scenario, featuring “one winner and no finish line.”
The cast of The Long Walk includes Cooper Hoffman, David Jonsson, Charlie Plummer, Ben Wang, Roman Griffin Davis, Judy Greer, and Mark Hamill.
Directed by Francis Lawrence, a veteran of The Hunger Games, the film’s screenplay is penned by JT Mollner of Strange Darling and is based on King’s novel written under his Richard Bachman pseudonym. Producers of the film include Lawrence, Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, and Cameron MacConomy.
King's works continue to hold a strong presence in Hollywood. Earlier this year, Osgood Perkins directed The Monkey, a dark comedy revolving around a toy that leads to brutal deaths. Next month, Mike Flanagan’s film adaptation of The Life of Chuck will debut in theaters, nearly a year after it garnered the People’s Choice Award at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival.
This November, Paramount is set to release the second cinematic adaptation of The Running Man, a novel King wrote as Richard Bachman. Edgar Wright will direct, with Glen Powell starring as Ben Richards, a participant in the world’s most lethal game show.
The Long Walk is scheduled to hit theaters on September 12.
