Three romantic comedies on Amazon Prime Video that you should check out in May 2025.

You may enjoy binge-watching a new series or an exhilarating action film. However, there are times when you're in the mood for something lighthearted, fluffy, and predictable. Romantic comedies fit that description perfectly. Here are three rom-coms on Amazon Prime Video that you should watch in May 2025.

Each film is quite distinct, with the oldest one dating back to 1987. It's likely you've seen at least one of these films before, though it may have been some time ago. With them now available to stream for free (yes, no subscription required!), it's a great opportunity to revisit them.

Looking for more suggestions? Then check out the best new films to stream this week, along with the top movies on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Max, and Disney+.

      **Moonstruck (1987)**

Cher earned an Academy Award for her role in this romantic comedy about Loretta, a widow who finds love again. However, her affections are directed not towards her fiancé Johnny (Danny Aiello), but his estranged younger brother Ronny (Nicolas Cage). Their passionate affair unfolds amidst turmoil, guilt, and superstition.

Moonstruck is a classic rom-com that everyone should watch at least once, especially for Cage’s unforgettable, over-the-top moment yelling about his missing hand. It’s also considered one of the greatest romance films ever — charming, enjoyable, and heart-wrenching.

      **Employee of the Month (2006)**

If you're in the mood for something silly, Employee of the Month is absurdly entertaining, serving as a tribute to big-box retail. Created largely at a Costco, slacker Zack (Dane Cook) works at the fictional Super Club and is frustrated that his competitor, Vince (Dax Shepard), continually wins the Employee of the Month award. Competition heats up when both men compete for the affection of the attractive new employee, Amy (Jessica Simpson). Zack, thinking she might repeat her previous behavior of dating the Employee of the Month, gets motivated to work harder and earn the title to win her over.

Employee of the Month is one of those films that's so bad, it's actually enjoyable. If workplace comedies and silly, juvenile humor are your thing, this could be a fun rom-com for you.

      **Sweet on You (2023)**

Starring Haylie Duff and Rob Mayes, Sweet on You embodies the classic Hallmark movie vibe. Kate (Duff) runs a beloved pie shop in her small town and is navigating life while mourning her mother's passing. Her world is turned upside down when Drew (Mayes), a city-dwelling real estate agent, arrives to inspect the land he has recently inherited.

Sweet on You provides the classic rom-com predictability. It features a small-town girl facing difficulties and a big-city guy feeling out of place. The central conflict arises when Drew considers selling the land, which would mean the closure of Kate’s shop. Like a delectable pie, you can expect a sweet conclusion, but the enjoyment lies in witnessing how the characters combine the elements to reach that happy ending.
