Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is set to debut on the Nintendo Switch 2, possibly accompanied by more titles. During a Nintendo Creator’s Voice interview, series director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed the arrival of Remake Intergrade on Switch 2, a detail we had already learned from an announcement in April. A particular comment made about four minutes into the video has grabbed the attention of gamers: “And with the release of the Final Fantasy VII Remake series on Switch 2, it would make me very happy if two generations connect and share a bond over the characters.”
Hamaguchi’s wording implies that the possibility of releasing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and the concluding installment of the series on the Nintendo Switch 2 in the future is not out of the question. He mentioned that the game’s port to the Nintendo Switch 2 is feasible due to its enhanced specifications. “We’d like players to experience the same thrill and surprise they had while playing the original game when they engage with the remake on Switch 2. With the capability of Switch 2, we can now fully recreate Midgar.”
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is an improved version of the PS4’s Final Fantasy VII Remake, featuring enhanced graphics for modern consoles and includes the Intermission DLC along with the addition of Yuffie as a playable character.
“The first video game system I ever played as a child was produced by Nintendo, so I hold a special affection for Nintendo platforms to this day,” Hamaguchi stated. The first Final Fantasy was released on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987 and remained on Nintendo consoles until the original Final Fantasy VII launched in 1997. In a sense, returning the remake to a Nintendo console completes a circle for the franchise. Hamaguchi concluded the interview with, “I have high hopes for establishing a strong partnership between Nintendo and the Final Fantasy brand.”

Switch 2 launch game Deltarune is receiving surprise mouse support
Deltarune is among the most-anticipated launch titles for the Nintendo Switch 2, and its creator, Toby Fox, has announced exclusive content designed specifically for mouse mode. This was hinted at in the trailer, albeit briefly. For those unfamiliar, Deltarune is the sequel to the beloved Undertale. Fox reassures fans that this content will also be available in other game versions, although it will function slightly differently due to varying control schemes. “In an effort to maximize being a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2, I really wanted to try to do something special,” he wrote. He explains that the unique content involves the ability to use mouse controllers on both Joy-Cons simultaneously. All other non-Switch 2 versions will include the same content. Addressing potential concerns, Fox added, “There is no significant difference in content amount, dialogue, setting, music, etc., among any version, so you will have a complete package of fun regardless of which you choose! No one gets left out!”

One week later, this is what still surprises me most about Nintendo Switch 2
Last week, Nintendo shared an abundance of details regarding the Nintendo Switch 2. We discovered information about its games, the enigmatic C-button, and learned more about how the mouse controllers operate. The presentation was filled with moments of surprise, including a startling reveal of Kirby Air Riders and the announcement that GameCube games were coming to Nintendo Switch Online. After having firsthand experience with the Switch 2, I found myself captivated by its new control scheme. I’ve had ample time to reflect on the news since then, and I even adjusted my views on features I was initially critical of, such as GameChat. Upon contemplation, one thing continues to astonish me: just how next-gen this system truly feels.
Switch 2 troubles extend to Canada as Nintendo postpones preorders
Issues with the Nintendo Switch 2 have reached our neighbors to the north. Pre-orders for the highly anticipated hybrid console have been postponed in Canada, right before they were due to commence. Jonathan Ore, a senior writer for CBC Radio Online, shared a statement from Nintendo of Canada on Bluesky on Tuesday announcing that the pre-orders for the Switch 2 have been delayed in the country to "align with the timing of pre-orders" in the United States. The statement reads as follows:
