Ryan Reynolds is said to be considering a movie that features a team-up between the X-Men and Deadpool.
Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation
The significant success of Deadpool and Wolverine highlighted the strong interest in Ryan Reynolds' portrayal of Deadpool, especially when paired with another hero. Despite Reynolds previously stating his reluctance to pursue more standalone Deadpool films, The Hollywood Reporter now indicates that he is developing treatments for a Deadpool movie that would feature a collaboration with the X-Men.
According to the report, Reynolds' foul-mouthed superhero would take on a supporting role in the film, and he believes this approach could allow for "unexpected" uses of other X-Men characters. The treatments reportedly include three or four additional X-Men, though the specific characters Reynolds has in mind remain undisclosed.
This project would be distinct from any upcoming X-Men films within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), for which one is currently under development. There are no casting announcements for the MCU version of the X-Men thus far, and Reynolds would depend on that cast if he were to pursue his own film.
While Reynolds is choosy about reprising his role as Deadpool, it appears that the MCU would be eager to welcome him back whenever he is ready. Deadpool and Wolverine proved to be a substantial success for the studio during a period when many of their films were underperforming, also showcasing that Reynolds' character could fit within the Marvel universe. However, it currently seems that Deadpool won't be appearing in films like Avengers: Doomsday, as his presence might disrupt the film's serious tone.

5 Best Ryan Reynolds Movies, Ranked
Ryan Reynolds is among the most popular actors of this generation. His latest role in the highly anticipated film Deadpool & Wolverine, alongside Hugh Jackman, which was released on July 26, 2024, has demonstrated his versatile acting talents across various genres, including romantic comedies, superhero films, thrillers, and even a holiday movie that has become a Christmas staple for families.
It’s challenging to select the top films from Reynolds’ extensive filmography, which includes credits dating back to the '90s in both movies and TV shows. Like all actors, he has had a few less successful ventures (Green Lantern, anyone? Even Reynolds would prefer to forget that one). However, when considering the five best movies featuring Ryan Reynolds, any fan would agree that these selections deserve their place on the list.

Forget Logan—this 2013 superhero film is the finest X-Men movie of all. Here’s why:
Critics and fans of the X-Men lauded Logan, the R-rated 2017 superhero drama meant to be Hugh Jackman’s farewell to the role that made him a worldwide star. With Logan, Jackman, writers Scott Frank and David Green, along with director James Mangold, crafted a serious and mature narrative exploring themes of aging, death, despair, and legacy, resembling a dark revisionist Western more than a typical comic book action film.
However, the prevailing narrative that Logan served as a redemption for the poorly received X-Men Origins: Wolverine neglects the middle entry of the character’s standalone trilogy, 2013’s The Wolverine. Created by many of the same talents behind Logan, The Wolverine has received only a fraction of the acclaim and is the most underappreciated segment of the X-Men film series. It may not have been a grand superhero “event,” yet that’s precisely what makes it exceptional.
The Wolverine captures a strong comic book storyline
Deadpool & Wolverine: Everything We Know About the MCU Movie
In hindsight, we should have anticipated that Deadpool & Wolverine would include its most renowned co-star in the title. In 2022, Ryan Reynolds successfully persuaded Hugh Jackman to reprise his role as Wolverine for the first time since 2017’s Logan. Once that occurred, the title Deadpool 3 could no longer convey the magnitude of this film.
Consequently, Marvel Studios has officially renamed it Deadpool & Wolverine. Jackman has also humorously rebranded the film as Wolverine & [expletive], complicating efforts to market this R-rated film!
