The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has surged in popularity as gamers revisit this classic title, but for some players, Cyrodiil alone is insufficient. In keeping with the tradition of Bethesda, many have ventured beyond the map boundaries and explored other regions displayed on the world map, including Hammerfell, the proposed setting for The Elder Scrolls VI.
While not all regions on the map are accessible, several can be explored. Early players pointed out that at certain points, the Throat of the World, the prominent mountain from Skyrim, can be seen in the distance. Reddit user u/GnoblinXD mentioned, “I managed to navigate to both the Morrowind and Skyrim borders, but the walkable area doesn’t extend too far. So, no selfies from the Throat of the World, sadly.”
They also reached Valenwood and Elsweyr; notably, much of the map is present, albeit lacking detail. The player attempted to swim to the Summerset Isles but ended up falling into the void. Another user documented their journey to X with numerous photos and videos.
Bethesda excelled in the details. It seems the landmasses were designed to appear correct from a distance, yet many players humorously suggested that it would be amusing if the company released a version of The Elder Scrolls IV with a twist revealing that "the true treasure was inside the game the whole time."
To clarify: this is highly improbable. However, it opens up opportunities for modders to incorporate additional content into the game and develop these pre-modeled areas with quests, communities, and dungeons. For players seeking something engaging beyond yet another Skyrim playthrough, this remaster shows great potential. It may just be enough to keep fans entertained until the next installment in the franchise arrives.

The Elder Scrolls: Castles - Developer Deep Dive
While we may still have a long wait before receiving updates on The Elder Scrolls 6, a new series game is set to be released soon. The Elder Scrolls: Castles is a mobile game similar to Fallout Shelter that will debut on iOS and Android.
The Elder Scrolls 6: everything we know so far
The Elder Scrolls 6 was initially revealed over five years ago with a 36-second announcement trailer. Unfortunately, there has been little concrete information about the game since then. With Bethesda recently launching Starfield — the developer's first new IP in 25 years — successfully despite mixed criticism regarding the game's scale versus gameplay, it is clear that the studio will now focus on the next entry in the Elder Scrolls series. The new title will build upon the immense success of its predecessor, Skyrim (which made it to Digital Trends' list of the top 50 video games of all time), as well as the MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online.
