A recent leak suggests that Nvidia may be developing new GPUs that could easily rank among the top graphics cards. These models are said to be Super refreshes of existing GPUs, promising a significant upgrade in RAM.

This information comes from the Chiphell forums, specifically from a reputable leaker known as panzerlied. However, it’s important to temper our excitement as all of this is still unverified and subject to change. That said, there are indications that this leak is credible.

The leaker mentioned the RTX 5080 Super and the RTX 5070 Super, which are successors to the current RTX 5080 and RTX 5070. According to this source, Nvidia is set to release these upgraded versions of its existing GPUs with 3GB memory modules, which will enable greater VRAM capacities. This would result in a 24GB RTX 5080 and an 18GB RTX 5070, each utilizing six 3GB VRAM modules.

Currently, the RTX 5080 already holds a memory advantage over other models in the lineup. It features memory modules with a clock speed of 30Gbps, compared to 28Gbps, giving it a superior memory bandwidth. However, increasing to 24GB would be a more substantial enhancement—24GB was the memory capacity of the RTX 4090, which represented the pinnacle of the Ada Lovelace generation.

These potential upgrades seem almost too good to be true, but there have been previous rumors of an RTX 5080 with 24GB of memory, leaked by MSI. While it was still early in development and not a Super refresh, it indicated that Nvidia might be collaborating with its partners to create such a GPU.

Nvidia could also leverage these 3GB GDDR7 modules in more budget-friendly GPUs. With 8GB VRAM proving insufficient for many AAA titles, models like the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB and the RTX 5060 could see significant improvements if Nvidia provides them with higher memory capacities.

Unfortunately, even if these cards are legitimate, it will still be a while before they hit the market. Super refreshes typically occur between generations, which means we might not see these cards until late this year or early 2026.

Nvidia’s upcoming GPUs might undergo a significant design transformation, which could be beneficial.

Reports indicate that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is collaborating with Nvidia to develop next-generation GPUs utilizing advanced chiplet technology. This partnership is anticipated to be crucial for Nvidia's upcoming "Rubin" architecture, purportedly the successor to the current Blackwell generation. The move to a chiplet-based design represents a significant shift from traditional monolithic GPU architectures, offering enhanced performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. Chiplet technology allows manufacturers to combine multiple smaller semiconductor dies in a single package, leading to improved yields and reduced production costs.

MSI could be developing a Nvidia GPU to finally outshine the RTX 4090.

While one leak might be an anomaly, two raises intrigue. According to two leaked images, MSI may have an exciting new GPU in the works that could compete with some of the best graphics cards. This GPU is said to be another variant of the RTX 5080, now featuring 24GB of memory— a substantial upgrade over the standard model. This change could potentially allow it to surpass the RTX 4090, but will it actually come to fruition? Both leaks were uncovered by VideoCardz, with MSI being the original source for both stories. Initially, the company released a promotional video featuring the RTX 5080 Vanguard GPU, which was advertised as "24GB GDDR7" on the packaging. This provides an additional 8GB VRAM over the currently available RTX 5080 and matches the memory capacity of the RTX 4090.

Experiencing driver issues with Nvidia GPUs? You're not alone.

While Nvidia has shifted its focus to its latest RTX 50-series graphics cards, older models appear to be encountering driver problems. Many users have taken to Reddit to report issues like crashes, black screens, blue screens of death (BSODs), and difficulties launching specific games. These issues seem to primarily stem from the latest drivers. A Reddit user named Scotty1992 has compiled a comprehensive thread documenting various complaints related to Nvidia's Game Ready driver, particularly versions of the 572.xx driver. The RTX 40-series seems to be the most impacted, with users reporting problems on models such as the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080.
