If you currently possess Michael B. Jordan stock, consider purchasing more. Amazon MGM Studios has evidently taken notice, as the release date for Jordan’s upcoming directorial project has been announced.
According to Deadline, the studio plans to premiere Jordan's reimagining of The Thomas Crown Affair in theaters and IMAX on March 5, 2027. Jordan will direct and star alongside Taylor Russell in this heist film, which is based on Norman Jewison’s 1968 classic of the same name. The screenplay was written by Drew Pearce, following previous drafts by Wes Took and Justin Britt-Gibson. The film's producers include Jordan, Patrick McCormick, Marc Toberoff, and Elizabeth Raposo, with Alan Trustman, who penned the original film, serving as executive producer.
This new adaptation marks the third cinematic interpretation of The Thomas Crown Affair. The original, directed by Jewison, featured Steve McQueen as Thomas Crown, a wealthy mastermind, and Faye Dunaway as Vicki Anderson, an independent investigator. Following a successful bank heist, Anderson is assigned to investigate the crime and begins to suspect Crown’s involvement, initiating a tense cat-and-mouse pursuit that evolves into a romantic affair.
In 1999, John McTiernan directed a remake featuring Pierce Brosnan as Thomas Crown and Rene Russo as the investigator, where the character stole a valuable painting from the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Currently, Jordan is thriving thanks to Sinners. In Ryan Coogler’s vampire horror film, he portrays Smoke and Stack, identical twins who return to their hometown in the Mississippi Delta to establish a juke joint for the Black community. Upon discovering a sinister presence on opening night, the twins and a few allies must struggle to survive until morning.
Sinners opened to $48 million in its first domestic weekend—a strong debut for an original film with a nearly $100 million budget. The film has received widespread acclaim, including a perfect five-star review from Digital Trends.
The Thomas Crown Affair will be Jordan's second project as director. At 38 years old, he has previously directed and starred in Creed III, the third installment in the series featuring him as Adonis Creed.
