3 PlayStation Plus games to enjoy this weekend (April 25-27)
The arrival of a new month is always thrilling. We have a whole month of exciting PS5 games to anticipate, along with the enthusiasm of discovering new titles coming to PlayStation Plus. April wrapped up impressively with the release of Clair Obscure: Expedition 33 just last week, which we believe many of you are still enjoying. However, that game may not appeal to everyone, and some may not be able to purchase this popular new title at full price. Regardless of the situation, this is when your PS Plus subscription truly proves its value. As I do each week, I have selected some excellent games on the service that you're sure to enjoy this weekend.
The Elder Scrolls Online
We all expected it, and this week The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remaster was officially unveiled and launched. While the significant visual upgrades, modernized gameplay, and all the DLC included offer considerable value, the $50 price tag may not be suitable for you. If that’s the case, you can still explore the land of Cyrodiil and almost every other area in The Elder Scrolls universe through The Elder Scrolls Online. Although this is an MMORPG, it can be played solo if you prefer, and it successfully captures that classic Bethesda experience in gameplay and RPG progression. Believe it or not, this game has been thriving for over a decade now, providing plenty of content for anyone seeking a new adventure in Tamriel.
The Elder Scrolls Online is currently accessible on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Child of Light
Expedition 33 is the latest major RPG, and while Game Pass users can access it through that service, there's an excellent alternative on Plus for those who can’t purchase this game immediately. Child of Light may resemble an indie title, but it actually comes from Ubisoft Montreal, offering a stylistic turn-based RPG. The game’s presentation evokes a fairy tale, yet its storyline is much more mature than one might anticipate. It combines light platforming with turn-based combat, following a timeline that indicates which character's turn is next, where different actions can push characters back varying amounts on the timeline, and certain attacks may even delay opponents. It offers substantial depth, beautiful art, and can be completed in a manageable timeframe.
Child of Light is now available on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
Tricky Towers
At this point, we've had our fill of Tetris for a lifetime. Tricky Towers may appear to be just another clone, but it features one key element that sets it apart: physics. Familiar blocks will fall from above, and you must position them correctly, but the objective is to build your tower up to the target, rather than complete lines, all while ensuring your structure remains balanced and doesn't collapse. Each level presents new challenges, including larger or slippery blocks to keep you engaged. There are also entertaining competitive multiplayer modes where you can invite friends to see who can build the best tower.
Tricky Towers is now available on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
